This business is for sale, and closed by the way. Used to have GREAT lunches, with exceptional atmosphere, quality food, and fair prices. But, like many business here in the North Fork, their doors are permanently closed. Wanted to make everyone aware of this, so as not to have great hope for a wonderful experience there again. There are other... More

WE'RE OPEN FOR BUSINESS! HI Charles, We close in the winter to take a break but we are well and once again cooking up wonderful food, professionally served in a relaxing environment. The Garden Patio Seating will return as soon as the weather warms a bit more! 14 years and running as the North Fork Valleys TOP PICK! Thank You... More

What a great find in little old Paonia. The wait staff was friendly, the food was delicious. They offer a really tasty selection of dishes, and several specials. We were there in off season, but from the sounds of it, in the summer, make sure you have a reservation, request to sit on the patio. Probably the best choice for... More

We stopped in for dinner on a Sunday night and were seated on the patio which was lit with fairy lights and full of pear and plum trees. I would love to visit in the summer to see all of the gardens in full bloom. We had bruscetta, which was good, but not great. I had a salad with goat... More

Okay, very confusing on where to enter this building if you are going for the restaurant. The pasta dishes we had were good, but not outstanding. The salad I had was very good, as was the dessert that we split. HOWEVER, when I asked the server about a wine, she tried to lie about the wine and after further questions,... More

This is a great surprise. We have had some great, and I mean great meals here. The chef uses locally sustainable ingredients and it is spot on. One of the great little restaurants on the western slope. Please go there!

First we "accidentally" since we don't live in Paonia went to the bakery door instead of the restaurant and got BLUNTLY told that if we would "hang on" a second she would get us back there. Then all was good but we got there at the same time as someone else so I felt badly. We sat outside which was... More

We were long overdue for a meal, after driving for five hours straight, and this got good reviews on Google. It was about 7:30pm when we arrived and the fairy lights strung amid two gorgeous (and very fecund) pear trees was almost fantasy-like. The food was fresh--we both started with a salad--and the pasta of the day was devoured in... More

We spent the night in Paonia during a long road trip from Florida. The Rocky Mountain Inn is about two blocks from the restaurant. A local resident suggested we try thus resraurant. When you arrive, it is not apparent that the entrance is through the garden. There is a cafe and bakery on one side, and the fine dining through... More

Flying Fork was such a delightful surprise. First, the food: from the beginning when they brought out fresh focaccia and fragrant olive oil for dipping, it was terrific. I had no idea how badly I was craving the wild arugula salad with dried cherries and goat cheese till I tasted it. My husband and I split the pasta special, a... More

We heard good things about this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Actually the person who checked us in at the Redwood Arms motel suggested we eat here. Wonderful menu selection with a focus on Italian dishes but I had one of the best tasting steaks in a long while. All the ingredients were fresh and they have an excellent wine... More

One of the more established restaurants in the North Fork Valley - The Flying Fork has a reputation for using the freshest, most local ingredients available. Owner/Chef Kelly Steinmetz uses the words "Simple Elegance" to describe both the cuisine and the ambience at the Flying Fork Cafe, located at the corner of 3rd and Main St. In Paonia. Dinner is elegant and packed with flavor. Choose from an assortment of pasta, braised Colorado lamb, NY strip steak, fresh fish, homemade Lasagne or fettuccine. Plus daily specials. "Being able to set up this restaurant from scratch is a dream come true," says Kelly. He keeps his eye on the "complete package" - flavorful food, outstanding service and a pleasant ambience, which is enhanced in the summer by outdoor garden seating under the fruit trees. With any meal, enjoy wines, beers, spirits and hard cider from around the North Fork & Colorado. In the bakery, sample a delicious cinnamon roll with bing cherries & walnuts or a hearty muffin with a cup of fresh roasted organic coffee. Pick up a loaf of artisan style bread, a dozen homemade cookies and stuffed focaccia breadsticks to take home. Cooking it up with Passion & a Whole Lotta Goodness since 2003.
