My sister and I went for dinner. We ordered 3 of their small plates to share. The food was decent but wasn't very warm when it was served. The portions are what would be expected for a small plate.
The saving grace of the meal...was the dessert. I had the chocolate chili torte. I've never had chocolate and chili as a flavor combination but I decided why not. It was so good! My sister had the berry torte and really liked it.
It was a decent enough experience that I would consider it again the next time I'm in Salida.More
I’m currently hiking the Colorado Trail and I was surprised to find this spot had better food than the two nice places I ate in Breckenridge! The bartender makes excellent cocktails from their menu or he’ll whip up something for you. They were so good,...I had 3! (The Last Word, a Gimlet and something he made with fresh peaches and rum; tasted a bit like a creamsicle).
I ate Ahi Tuna poke, fresh and bright flavors and garnished with edible flowers; I highly recommend. Also had grilled Octopus, very good. I capped the night off with a Tawny Port. The chef/owner was seated at the other end of the bar from me; very friendly people, great service and great food. Worthy of a visit while in town.More
We were a party of 4 - two couples, the atmospheres was very warm & inviting.
All the wait staff were very tentative, friendly and made us all feel welcome & appreciated. The food was as good & would stand up to restaurant in our home...town of Duango,CO.
Quaint little place with amazing food. The German Chocolate cake is to die for. Food is definitely cooked by experienced Chefs. Had no idea about the location prior to entering. We just randomly picked it out while driving around. So glad we did. Everything is...made to order and be prepared to enjoy a little downtime while waiting on the food to be prepared once ordered. Great chance to enjoy time communicating with family or friends.More
Dinner started strong. Delicious home baked bread and roasted peppers were spectacular. My side salad with the smoky vinaigrette was different and delicious. Entrees.... Just ok. My chicken was good, but definitely not worth 24 dollars. The bucatoni pasta was good, but too much of...it and the chicken could've been gotten at a place like Applebee's. My husband's green chili was so hot, he couldn't taste anything else. The service was friendly and full of smiles. Might go back to try something else, but but those 2 dishes.More
We spent a couple of days in Salida, and the service we received at shallots for brunch was quite possibly the best Salida. I wish the food was as memorable. Although we chose to try the south of the border brunch options at the recommendation...of our server, the actual breakfast goodies were lacking. The French toast and buttermilk pancake left a lot to be desired. Overall if you’re looking for that hometown feel and for a large variety of brunch options to satisfy the entire family this is the place. But you will not find yourself craving it next year.More
I have had several outstanding meals at Shallots. The weekend brunches are especially good, but get there early. I spoke with one of the owners and was impressed with her commitment to quality and the food and atmosphere demonstrate that this commitment is real.
My husband and I decided to come here with our two kids on a Saturday night because we needed a place that caters to Gluten sensitive customers such as myself. They were so accommodating to us with our 4 year old and 1 year old....It’s not often you go to a nice restaurant with young children without getting the side eye from the staff and fellow customers. Cynthia was our server, and she greeted us at the door with kindness and enthusiasm. We were in our hiking gear, yet we felt right at home in the chic casual environment the restaurant provided. We ordered, off of the “specials” menu, “The Steak and Shrimp Chimichurrie” for ourselves and the chicken fingers meal for the kiddos. They brought the kids meals our first to save our hangry kids a tantrum and our sanity. When my husband and I got our meal, it was hot and fresh. We both were blown away with how tasty it was! The steak was divine on its own let alone with the delicious chimichurrie topping! The mixed garden veggies were steamed to perfection, and the plantains were to die for! The 3 shrimp that came with the meal was the icing on the cake! Don, the chef, did an amazing job of perfecting this dish of diversity, and we found ourselves trying to google recipes to recreate it at home. Cynthia, our server, continued to impress us with her compassion and patience for our rambunctious kiddos. We are so so pleased with our decision to come here, and we don’t regret one bit missing out on the current #1 spot holder for best restaurant in Salida, The Lost Cajun. This place should definitely be #1, and we will be back to Salida, if not only to eat at Shallots!More
