Enjoyed a delightful train ride to Silverton with delicious lunch at Grumpy's! I wish to personally thank Al Harper (owner) for a fun few hours. Just a short walk from the train - 2 blocks - to the corner - where the Grand Imperial Hotel is undergoing renovations - you will find this restaurant/bar. Entertainment provided by a talented gal... The restaurant would probably only rate average any place else, but in Silverton it is probably better than average. On a cool, rainy day in October it was a pleasant place to kill an hour. I had the chili which was surprisingly good, and hubby had a catfish sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was meh. The sweet potato... More

Great food, service and atmosphere. My wife had a bowl of the meat chili topped with shredded cheddar cheese and I had a swiss burger with grilled mushrooms. Both were delicious. Oh..and the onions rings are a must. We look forward to our next visit to try some other items from the menu.

A ragtime piano player, good food, friendly waitress. I sang along with the piano player, later we talked, I gave him a big hug. He is world famous, Dale Elliot, super sweet man!!! We had a great time!

We stopped in here for a burger while waiting to board the train back to Durango. It was crowded at lunch time but still got seated quickly. The burgers were large and tasty. The piano player was very talented. I don't believe there was a song she couldn't play. If your riding the train up to Silverton, spend your lay... More

The old timey rag time piano player was awesome. We love music and any good music and that talent was wonderful.

I had the chili, which was unique and delicious. But, the music was simply scrumptious! We took the steam train to Silverton (which was a great trip!), and were wandering around the town when we heard the ragtime piano music coming from Grumpy's. We were drawn in, and had a great lunch, in a lovely Victorian environment (the woodwork in... More

We ordered a bacon cheese burger, and a buffalo burger. After the server threw our plates down and ran off, my bacon cheese was on his buffalo burger. Fries and onion rings were ICE cold. We flagged the server down and she got us new sides, after we were done with our burgers. She never checked back, no refills. Just... More

Grumpy's Saloon is part of the historic Grand Imperial Hotel in Silverton established in 1882. It is a great saloon atmosphere but more importantly the food is excellent. A varied menu with many drink choices is available. Before we ate, the owner briefed the group on the history of the hotel and Grumpy's. Grumpy's has won the "Taste of Silverton"... More
