I love to sneak in the Tearoom Alpenrose and get a hot spiced wine and pastry or hot chocolate. Great Austrian menu and fabulous split pea soup with sausage. I feel comfortable eating there as a single woman (while my husband skies) , Friendly staff. Warm welcoming small bar. Right in the middle of town on the bus route.

Every visit to Vail, we go to Alpenrose. The combination of French Onion and the Monte Cristo sandwich soup is one of our favorite Vail lunches. They have been famous for their beautiful and tasty homemade pastries. Dinners are delicious, too. They have been in Vail for about 18 years and we have eaten there every year.

I have had lunch here a few times. Really like the chicken vegetable soup. It's full of vegetables in a flavorful broth, but no noodles. That is nice if you are eating gluten free. They have a nice selection of European pastries, but I have not tried them yet. Outdoor patio is great in the summer.

Outstanding austrian/german food and service. We always knew about it but had never eaten there. We won't repeat the mistake, next year we will return. The menu is similar to Pepis but the quality is better.

We had dinner here with a good sized group of friends. The atmosphere is cozy and the service was on point. I had fondue for the first time, and it was delish! This was my second time at the Alpenrose and the second time I ordered the beef tenderloins. So good! Not too heavy and perfectly portioned. We topped off... More

We have dinned here every year for the last five years when we come to ski Vail/BC. The food is always good and consistent for an Austrian style- small tables, candlelight, great bread and friendly service. My daughter lives in Vienna now, which I visited six times last year and the food is just as good here as any place... More

Vail is pricey and a little to "fru-fru" but somehow this lovely restaurant provides great German/Continental cooking in a comfortable atmosphere with superb service and decent prices. Eat the Schnitzel, the steak tartar, the Speatzle (noodles) and any deserts.

The place is very cozy and gives you that mountain chalet kind of feeling. Good beers, excellent service from Alexandar gentleman and very good dessert. Food is very nicely played but rather mediocre quality. We had wiener schnitzel which was quite small for what it should be. The sausages plate was big but the sausages were low quality and more... I went there for dinner with a couple girfriends. Being from Germany, I was a little disappointed about the Wiener Schnitzel and the Spaetzles. We were sitting in the bar area and the atmosphere was great. Live entertainment with sing-along German Songs. I loved the decor - made we feel like home. Service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely come... More

Obnoxious service and very small, overpriced portions are the norm here. Vail is special for sure but there's no need for tiny portions (we has a schnitzel that was 1/2 the size it should be). My wife ordered a Sacher Torte (we've been to the Sacher Hotel in Vienna and had the Tore there) and this was not even close,... More
