As a nursing student and a mother I look forward to going to local coffee shops when my husband is able to watch over our 18 month old so I can focus on my studies. I have gone to numerous coffee shops who have ALL...welcomed me with opened arms to do school work after I purchase my coffee, except Arethusa Farms. Today when I purchased my coffee I sat down and was about to start doing an hour of work and the manager came up to me and stated very loudly "we don't like when people sit down to do work, because families can't sit down and eat." He then proceeded to point at the family who came in after me that was standing. It made for a very uncomfortable and embarrassing situation. I was confused because there was an older gentlemen sitting at a table drinking his coffee and reading the paper? What is the difference? The manager was incredibly unprofessional. Maybe he didn't like the way I looked, I am not sure. And as someone who has worked in the food industry previously this was the worst experience as a customer or as an employee I have ever witnessed. I will never go here again. Never mind customer service being poor and the coffee being mediocre at best, what ever happened to courtesy and respect?More

You'll think you suddenly understand why it's called ice CREAM. Very creamy, almost buttery even, but not. It's delicious. My wife and I both wanted to the coconut and dark chocolate and that's what we both got, although I knew it would reduce the usefulness...of my Tripadvisor review. Strong, good coconut flavor, that also allowed the cream flavor through, and delicious chocolate. And delicious waffle cone. I noticed a few reviews here that claimed the ice cream was icy and the flavors indistinguishable. That absolutely was not our experience. We also got some Camembert cheese, but I haven't tried it yet. Will try to remember to edit my review when I do.More

Ice cream flavors is some cases are indistinguishable. Some of the Ice cream has a dry texture....what I mean specifically is that the ice cream is either overspun or has too much air incorporated. The product is inconsistent (sometimes okay and other time not good...at all), but NEVER what anyone would consider excellent. You would be much more pleased at Peaches & Cream on the Torrington Road.More

The ice cream was absolutely fantastic. We spent the summer treating ourselves to small premium ice cream treats in PA, CT and DE and this place tops the list. Way creamy, way rich, way to go cows. I am not kidding that we dropped some...of the waffle cone on the sidewalk and we picked it up to eat! It was that good. We brought salted butter home and that was also quite a treat.More

We have been loyal customers to Rich’s ice cream for many years. Lately we have been hearing rave reviews about Arethusa Farm ice cream. We decided to give it a try. I ordered the coffee ice cream. First impression, wow that’s strong. It reminded me...of a Starbucks coffee. Bold. My wife bought the coconut ice cream. The quality and richness of both are evident. Arethusa Farm definitely has a great product. We will be going back in the future and will now split our ice cream outings with them and Rich’s.More

We had heard so much about ice cream at Arethusa that after a super lunch about 10 miles away we skipped desert to go here. A big mistake. Flavor choices are limited, prices are high and taste was poor. Barely could tell we had mint...in the ice cream, pecans were nonexistent in the butter pecan and texture was not really creamy but more icy, like it was rethawed. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The only thing going for it was the idea of a half scoop of 2 different flavors, if you could tell the flavor difference, making 1 scoop.More

It’s worth the wait! They don’t have all the crazy hipster driven flavors. What they do do have is just simply the best damn ice cream you’ll ever have.

This is place is easily the best ice cream I have had in Connecticut. The first time, my girlfriend only had a cup and shared, the second time, after lunch in Litchfield, we got our own. I ate mine like a recently released prisoner and...was ready to go back for two more scoops. Love it here. The next time we are up, we plan to get a sampling of their cheeses, as well.More

Whilst on a day drip exploring some of the CT towns we stopped here. What a find! Delicious, family farm made, excellent quality ice cream , no cheap sprinkles in sight. At under $8 for two enormous double scoop pots really good value. Let us...try flavours first. Best coffee ice cream ever! We couldn’t eat it all.More

I stop by here one and off when I have time on my travels up Route 202. While at any given time there are only ten or twelve flavors of ice cream, they hold up well. None of the flavors taste "artifical" - they're made...with real strawberry, or real pumpkin (that one is seasonal). The other thing this place does well is cheese. There's a variety of types to tempt any specific cheese need. Usually there are samples for tasting. The cows that produce these dairy products are local, and the quality reflects the care these cows get. Oh, there's also milk and yogurt (I have not to date purchased these items). You can eat outside, or you can take items home. There are ice cream to go pints. No seating inside. I don't eat cones, but I understand their specialty waffle cone comes recommended.More

I don't know - Arethusa is a very highly rated dairy farm so I am sure the ingredients are excellent. try going to their website for more detail.
