The restaurant serves better than average food but it never hits a high note; unforgivable for the ridiculously high prices. That is not to infer the ingredients are not fresh or the service is poor. The restaurant is noisy. The lighting is too low; a...romantic place this is not.More

Beautiful restaurant, great front of the house staff, excellent service and exceptional food. Arethusa is a next-level restaurant experience. It is simply exceptional. We celebrated a special occasion (50th birthday) and could not have been more pleased. Highly recommended...and we cant wait to return.

My fiancé and I dined here on Saturday December 5 2020. I picked this restaurant based on the reviews. We were greeted upon arrival entering the restaurant. I can’t say enough about the service and the dish was a culinary masterpiece. The food and service...are excellent although a bit pricey, this restaurant is worth the money.More

It is very easy to stick a pin, at random, in a map of France and Italy with high odds that you are very close to one or more exceptional restaurants. That isn't so in our country. If you care about memorable dining here, you...need to plan for it. That is precisely what we did. A fifty mile drive on winding roads through the countryside brought us to this charming and distinctive restaurant. We will be happy to return. Fine dining doesn't have to be pretentious. The young, enthusiastic and genuinely caring wait staff add considerably to the enjoyment of dinner here. The menu is extensive and the wine list substantial. My wife and I had an all seafood dinner, but we could just as easily gone in another direction, particularly with the duck and meat dishes. The dish preparations were complex without being esoteric or over the top. With two different starters, mains and desserts, there were still many offerings that would justify additional trips. Candidly, no one dish stood out as dazzling, but each was handsomely presented and satisfying. In a busy dining room, four or five of the wait staff had something to do at our table. That could be a recipe for disorder and detachment. But all was well coordinated and each server was gracious, engaging and professional. No one had to auction off a dish, i.e. "who gets the Salmon?" Indoor dining right now is a bit precarious. We appreciate the steps the restaurant has taken to keep us and their staff safe. Temperature checks, good table spacing and their mask policy, etc are all sensible checklist items. All in all, a lovely place to celebrate a special occasion or just to enjoy distinctive dining. They are continuing to offer outdoor service-but that was not very appetizing on a rainy and windy fall evening.More

Arethusa is the best restaurant in the area. Everything from the spectacular food, the amazing, kind, and helpful staff and the nice outdoor and indoor seating. Arethusa has done a great job following COVID-19 regulations, while still managing to provide an amazing dining experience for...customers. I have been going to this restaurant for years and just went for the first time 2-3 days ago for the outdoor COVID dining and it was great. The whole staff was careful and masked and the food was just as good as it always is. My favorite place - highly recommended!More

Everything about our dinner at Arethusa al tavolo was superb. The dinner itself was excellent - delicious food that was creatively composed and beautifully presented. The service far exceeded anything I've experienced in recent memory. The atmosphere is lovely, the noise level allows for easy...conversation. You cannot go wrong dining there.More

Fantastic dinner experience in an unexpectedly rural area. I was driving through the area visiting boarding schools with my son. We booked two days in advance mid-week and were able to get a table. From beginning to end, service was very professional, friendly and competent....The food was fantastic. The blue cheese amuse bouche, the chicken liver dumplings, the lobster salad, and grilled octopus (in particular) stood out. The wine list was also very interesting and I wish that I had more time and opportunity to explore that, including the by-the-glass selections. I definitely plan to revisit the next time I am in the area.More

I will get the niceties out of the way first. Staff is exceptional, VERY polite and attentive. The complimentary dishes they sent out was a very nice touch. Now the primary reason for my review. Given the reputation I have heard I was looking forward...to dinner here with close friends. Our reservation was for 5:30 pm. I always arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and may sit in the bar and have a wine or cocktail while waiting to be seated. If my reservation was for 6 pm I would arrive at 5:45 or so. So given the fact we would be seated at 5:30 we arrived a little early. Now mind you it was 37 degrees out. My wife went to open the door and it was locked because they don't open until 5:30, the same time as our reservation. We could see there was a meeting with the staff going on in the bar area and the matradie was working just on the other side of the glass from us. My wife tried the "clear" glass door again thinking someone would open the door and let us in from the cold but, you guessed it, they would not allow us in. It wasn't like they didn't know we were there and everyone made sure to not make eye contact with us. I couldn't help but think what are they going to do, open the door at 5:30 and give us the bumbs rush to our table? Nope, not only did they not let us in early they didn't unlock the door until 5:40. Who does that to a patron who is about to spend over $400. at your restaurant. I'll tell, someone who is a self absorbed, unfeeling imbesile who has some self imposed importance. And whose idiot idea was it to have a staff meeting in the bar just before opening time? That area should be reserved for the paying customers who arrive early, kinda like me trying to get out of 37 degree weather. Based on the size of the building I have to guess there is plenty of space somewhere else to do this and accommodate the people that actually pay their bills. There is something seriously wrong when they have a total disregard for their patrons. It is an elitist behavior and unattractive. My food review is not influenced by my described experience. I had the Chilean Seabass. The presentation looked like a work of art and worth the $39. price of admission. The sauce flavors were spectacular. That is the good part. As I began eating the sea bass I noted a slight "fishy" taste, you know the one. When I investigated further I noticed the skin was not removed. Any fisherman knows there is a layer of the dark fat between the fish meat and the skin...mystery solved. I peeled the fish away from the skin (that it was stuck too because it was so dry), that wasn't difficult given the fish was all of 1/4" thick or so, and cleaned off the fat. I'm glad I did this as I noted the meat was dry and not flakey, a situation that was disguised by the sauces. I have honestly never had a sea base that was this thin. Typically a sea based is served relatively thick and moist. But I suppose commanding a hefty price one needs to get as many dishes as possible from one filet. Or perhaps this is the new 21st century neuvo dining experience? My meal was mediocre at best unless of course one is impressed with the sauces that could not disguise that darn "fishy" taste. I will say the lamb meatball appetizer was over the top and looking back I should have just ordered 3 of those. My wife had the lamb that she was extremely happy with. It was tender and juicy. I will add that I did go to the ice cream shop next door and bought $60. of goods that are all unbelievably good. So something good did come out of this for me but lesson learned. Everyone agreed while most of the fare was "good" it was not an unforgetable dining experience. I will not be returning but based on my experience they could care less as there will be a plethora of people to take my place so they don't need to care.More

We love this restaurant so very much. We'd be here weekly if we didn't live an hour away but that being said, it's well worth the drive and we stay overnight just so we can enjoy this place!

Food was prepared very well and tasty. Creative. Service was very nice. Polished yet not over the top. Great atmosphere. Save room for the homemade ice cream from their local dairy farm.

I don't believe you can bring your own wine to the restaurant. But you should phone them. We ordered from the wine list which is very good and quite reasonable.
