I see potential here, but after reading my review (I'm very picky) you may be left wondering why. My wife and I, having lived in the south for a couple of decades combined (and I'm talking AL, TX, KY, VA and NC - not NJ) are always on the lookout for a place with grits (for her) and biscuits and... Went for Sunday breakfast after seeing review on a Foodie show. Small, but nicely decorated and comfy tables encourage relaxed eating. Enjoyed breakfast enough to want to go back for some of the other interesting offerings both for breakfast and lunch. The owner chatted with us for a few minutes which we thoroughly enjoyed. Worth the 30 minute drive from... More

Wonderful hidden gem. Our group enjoyed French onion soup, crab cakes and assorted burgers and pulled pork. Each burger was cooked perfectly. The hard rolls were super fresh but held together. The toppings were delicious and wonderful. The sweet potato fries that accompanied the burgers came with a yummy mango sauce. The carrot cake, pumpkin creme brûlée and brownie sundaes... More

Good breakfast. The omelettes were very good but weren't made with real cheese (tastes like kraft singles and was orange). The pancakes are huge - and very thick (about 1"). I prefer a thinner, crisper pancake to this cakier one. Look forward to going again and trying something different.

We went for a Saturday lunch after reading a few reviews. We were given the wrong menu (breakfast instead of lunch) but no biggie. We changed from omelettes to sandwiches. We ordered lemonade, sweet tea, calamari, pulled BBQ pork sandwich, and catfish sandwich. The sweet tea tasted off, with a chemical after taste. The BBQ pork sandwich was okay, but... More

The owner is not very friendly and the breakfast food is not very good. I asked for scrambled eggs and they came out looking like a piece of yellow plastic. He did send them back and brought me some new eggs, which were better, but still not very good. There were 4 adults at our table, and no one was... More

I was surprised to find a restaurant in Bristol that served authentic Southern food, within a homey, pleasant atmosphere. I would have happily returned to 457 Mason Jar for dinner the same evening after my lunch, but this establishment is only open for dinner over the weekends. Appetizers (for my meal) included Cajun Gator Bites and Hush Puppies. The latter... More

This restaurant is part of the Barter Business Unlimited network so we decided to try it. Very small with not much seating. People extremely friendly. Hush puppies were delicious as was the honey butter. Corn bread was dry and the grits underneath my chidken breast were like a mound of rubber. I mentioned it to the waiter but no apology... More

When it comes to breakfast in Bristol, your options for good food and service are very limited. There are many diners in Bristol, but they all seem to share the same idea: cheap ingredients, greasy and poorly presented. Mason Jar tries to break away from that stereotype. They provide a Southern fusion twist to their meals at an affordable price.... More

My family comes here all the time! The owners make you feel like you are at their home! Try the pork chops with Apple raised sauce or their calamari salad with lemon aioli is fantastic!!!!
