This out of the way restaurant is nestled in a residential neighborhood, but is definitely worth seeking out. This place is run by a Hungarian couple who dole out delicious old country food. The stuffed cabbage is wonderful, and there are three kinds of goulash on the menu. Prices are reasonable, making this a great value.

We returned from Budapest last month, and wanted to experience the delicious cuisine again! The Goulash Place is a bit off-the-beaten-path in the heart of Danbury, but has great food reviews. The place is simple and we felt we had entered a time-warp with the 60's era tables and chairs, flooring, checkered tablecloths, etc. Although it was 6:30 pm on... More

Delicious stuffed cabbage, lamb goulash (not on menu)! Excellent value for money. Just like your Hungarian grandma would make!

Amidst the pizza parlors, fast food places and Asian food it is nice to find something a little different. The food is Hungarian, tasty and ample at a fair price. In addition to the main dish, there is a salad bar with ample choice of fresh veggies and dressings. Desserts are excellent especially the sweet pancakes. Would definitely recommend.

Hungarian restaurants in the United States are rare, so any sightings are of interest. From the other reviewers it seems clear that their experience varied considerably. We found the service to be excellent, and the salad bar to be acceptable given the total price of our meals. The pea soup and the stuffed cabbage were excellent, but the chicken paprikash... More

We heard from friends about this Goulash restaurant. We eventually found the restaurant and had the Hungarian Goulash soup, the beef goulash w/ potato and vegetable dish, bread, etc. It was very good, tasty and hearty! We will be back to try some of the other Hungarian food on the next trip! Excellent presentation too!

This single owner restaurant has been a staple of Danbury for over half a century. Absolutely reasonable and very tasty eastern European dishes. Go... Please go and enjoy. Say hello to John.

Years ago this was an acceptable restaurant. But, all this has changed. It took one hour for us to get our meals. There is a salad bar -- very depressing and minimal! There was only one other table filled in the restaurant at the time (a party of about 14). Every other table was empty; I was soon to understand... More

This tiny restaurant in Danbury reeks of sincerity in its atmosphere and its staff (the owners for the most part). Unfortunately, the food is bland and leaves one wishing that there was a chef who really knew how to present a tasty and interesting meal.
