As a long time Essex resident a trip to the seal with friends or family is a must. The old world bar and great pub fare it’s a consistent pick for lunch or dinner. From sandwiches to dinners there is something for everyone.

Fast service and friendly . Nice Nautical ambience . Located 10 minutes from Essex train stations . Very cute with the little shops around. Food is typical American food. Delicious Home made Mac and cheese. We had the red snapper slightly over cook. Nothing especial.

Thanks for your visit and yes, Lynn is terrific, as is the entire staff. We are a family restaurant for sure. Got kids???? Bring them with you on your next visit.😊

Wandered through town looking for a place to eat. We first made a stop at a nearby restaurant but since their menu didn't offer much of a gluten free option for a friend to choose from, we moved on to the Black Seal. Walking in...More

We're local and the Black Seal is our "go to" dinner spot. Always good. I would recommend this restaurant.

Nice little place for sandwiches or meal. All of our food was good. Nautical decor, child friendly, does have a bar area also.
