I love the smell of coffeeshops: the freshly-brewed coffee, the tea, the pastries. This place smelled gloriously like a welcoming coffeeshop, and the staff were equally friendly and welcoming. My latte and my husband's Americano were well-made, and we got to sit in the coffeeshop and savor our drinks after we finished with our nearby appointment. This coffeeshop is conveniently located close to both The Griswold Inn and to the Essex Steamboat and Train, which makes it a good pitstop for multiple activities.

wonderful baristas, friendly service, tasty treats, and peaceful park with big teak garden benches right next door to sit in and people-watch while you sip your brew of choice

From the coffee, tea and delicious treats to the sweet, friendly and personable demeanor of the staff. David and his small team are the BEST! Highly recommend!

Went to Connecticut to catch up with my old girlfriends in Old Saybrook. On my way I stopped at this sweet little place and enjoyed myself a nice cup of coffee, LOL! The coffee was brewed to perfection! Although once I left I spilled the coffee on my pants in the car and nearly crashed! I can be such a klutz! Anyhoo such a quaint atmosphere the place had, love to go again next time I visit CT. Lost of love from Linda!

This coffee shop is across from the griswold inn. Many local persons walk there in the morning to chat over a cup of coffee. If you want a bagel get there early. There is a constant flow of people. Downside is they close at 5pm. Owner run.

A nice cozy, comfortable place to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with a sweet. I tried the lemon bar & mini macaroon & they were both good. Nice, friendly staff.

Been here dozens upon dozens of times and the coffee and pastries are always of good quality and yummy. They have regular hot coffee in large thermoses you can pour your own (ask for almond milk kept behind the counter if that's your thing) or order one of their yummy specialty coffee's from the barista. The owner does fun, artistic sketches to liven up the menu boards and inserts a sense of humor (its approaching fall season now so the specials board is a take on the Spice Girls). Either way, whenever I need a *good* cup of coffee- this is my go to place. And the customer service is positive and consistently great-doesn't matter if its your 1st or 21st time there!

It's the only coffee shop in town. If you're in the area, worth checking out.
Close pretty early, 5:30 pm.
Asked for a cappuccino, was given a latte. No big deal. It was still good. Pastries were sweet, a nice treat. Good variety.
Good place to catch up on some reading.
Friendly staff.

You might have to wait a bit, but it's well worth it. Excellent coffee, truly great baristas, and the sweets and desserts! OMG! Just apply it to your thighs, Teddy Roosevelt would have said!
