I have had the pleasure and privilege of a number of celebrations here over the years. An anniversary dinner for 30, many more intimate celebrations of whatever "big-0" birthdays with small groups of women, a recent celebration for a neighbor for perhaps 24 in a...More

We were extremely delighted that we dined at this very fine restaurant. Our table was very special on an enclosed porch with a view of the garden. Service is very attentive and the decor, atmosphere and food was wonderful. We would not hesitate for one...More

We had not been to Thomas Henkelman in years and decided to celebrate something. This restaurant offers high-end Classic French fare. Everyone at the table commented how well the food was prepared. I started with the sweetbreads with an excellent truffle sauce. I then had...More

Great classic French food in a beautiful setting. Service is perfect. We had crispy duck as our main dish and it did not disappoint. Portions are generous. Good bar.

We came here to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. (No, I'm not 28. Suffice to say I've been around the block). Everything about this dining experience was first rate, top-notch, among the best places I've ever dined. From the moment you walk into the amazing...More

Thomas Henkelmann was, by far, the best dining experience we have had in Connecticut. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the minute we walked in the door, the service was top notch - courteous, friendly, and classy. The server was extremely kind and...More

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and setting decorated to look colonial with a log fire in the corner. The menu for both food and wine was good with plenty of options all very tempting. The waiter was full of character too.

Very unusual because they have kept the same wonderful people working at the restaurant for many years, surrounded by beauty of the surroundings as a reminder of what rural Greenwich might have been like in the 1920's, pouring soup with dignified formality into your bowl,...More

This is a special place. Old school in a wonderful way. Pleasurable and helpful wait staff. But the main courses just weren't special, particularly the Halibut which was recommended. Strong wine list. And it is good. Just stopped short of being extraordinary, which is what...More

As stated in other answers, this isn't a question for guests. You should look at their menu online or call. They are VERY helpful. Happy birthday!
Your review was excellent. The staff can be rude, and yet most of the reviews rave about how the staff is great. Your review helps explain the seeming contradiction. They treat some people well and some people badly. "Distinguished". They see themselves as a place for distinguished people. Part of that is that they distinguish between the high class people and the less deserving of attention. It's a European thing that they are trying to imitate. They see themselves as "high class". And a way of showing that they are upper class is by treating some people as lesser valued.

Very interesting, thanks for the feedback. We are actually European, and I agree. It is their view of how it is done in Europe, but I have never been treated like that in top notch European restaurants. We weren't... More
I appreciated your review of the Thomas Henkelmann restaurant. If you look at my review, you will see that I noticed a similar act of shockingly rude waiters. They insulted a young man in front of his mother by telling him loudly that his tip was under 20% and therefore inappropriate. They made a big show of bringing him back his credit card to correct the underpayment. They are very class oriented and want the people they see as lower class to know their place. I also saw someone ask for a different table and they said that table was taken, even though no one came to the desired table until closing. They just did not want to let the guy have his desired table But, in fairness, this is the very thing that people like about that restaurant. They treat the high tipping regulars with respect and prove it by disrespecting the lesser people. In my opinion, that is a custom that Europe can keep. We do not need to imitate it in this country. The closest thing we have to that is those silly restaurants that cow tow to celebrities and treat the tourists badly. There actually are tourists who thrive on that bad treatment and come back to the restaurant better dressed and tipping higher so that they can get the feeling of finally being included in the upper crust.
