Owner Jason infuses the entire operation with his special enthusiasm, dedication and enterprise. Go for lunch when you can visit the attached cheese shop, also the best in the area, or go for dinner and simply be surrounded by happy people and astonishingly successful pairings, combinations and tastes. (I work at Yale and have worked with Jason on wine and... More

300.00 for grilled cheese sandwiches?? Very overpriced. Way too much bread and very little cheese at this new haven bistro. Service is horrible. Had to ask several times for ice?? Really? Parking is also horrible as it is located at a busy intersection. The food here was not good at all. I've had way better food and service and a... More

Having partaken of their grilled cheese sandwiches (food truck) various times I finally actually went to the restaurant. The poutine was topped with a lovely cheddar curd. The pot de creme was one of the best desserts I have had in a long time - sweet but not too sweet as the salt cut it (I normally don't like too... More

It's a small restaurant specialize in using cheese in their dishes. Very rich and full of flavor. We thought we were there to hv a late lunch, but the kitchen was about to close, felt like I was pressured to rush to place order. The dishes we ordered were good. If I had more time to decide, I would hv... More

We had a perfect lunch experience at Caseus in New Haven. Perfect cozy seating in the basement. Also they have an outdoor dining space. Arrive at off peak times, because it is a small space, and does fill up fast. I highly recommend the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and bacon. What an amazing sandwich. Also, the cheeseburger with bacon,... More

the place is a little tight- but well worth it once you eat the food. we prefer to eat upstairs in the bar- but its not always available but worth waiting for if you have time.

...and not be annoyed by hipster food, i.e. "curated pickles." :) I didn't realize that there are no entrees that don't have cheese before we got there. Check with your dining companions if that's okay.

You don't usually associate pleasant terrace dining with New Haven, but in the middle of July on a quiet and warm New Haven evening there was no better place to be than Caseus. Now I know what all the fuss is about. We shared the cheese board and steamed mussels and both were flavorful, delicious and memorable. The cheese board... More

I LOVE this place. I shop for cheese here at least three times a month. I have my favorites but the expert cheese ladies in the store are always glad to offer me a taste of something new. The cheese selection is the best I've encountered anywhere in the area and the ladies behind the counter are very knowlegeable. Did... More

Caseus still has lovely atmosphere and a very spiffy thing going: rich, delicious food. Unfortunately, the culinary creative folks and service staff seem to be too proud of their accomplishments to actually do any more innovating or serving. On a recent visit I had arrived about a half hour before my reservation and had difficulty getting the attention of the... More
