The Ancient Mariner is a Ridgefield oldie but goodie--come here to watch the game, throw back a beer, and munch on sandwiches, burgers, etc. Laid back and unapologetic! This is not fine dining but fun dining (but the food is good)

Great long-time local restaurant; very good food and relaxing atmosphere. Friendly and comfortable to go with friends or family and converse.

I've only eaten here three times-"dining" would be too high falluting a term. My first optimistic visit was voluntary, and two took place after being persuaded to return by colleagues. What I don't understand is how a restaurateur can run an establishment that has an odor of old carpet that assaults patrons noses at the door. Once you get past... More

it's so so, bar seems to be okay. Food is average. Portions are good. Fish 'n chips and stuff like that. Not my cup-a-tea. But a friend of mine loves it. Seating is rustic.

We hadn't been to the Mariner since they introduced their new (at the time) young chef, who had been a finalist on one of the Cooking Challenges on TV. I imagine that he moved on since the menu was back to being typical of what you'd find in any burger and beer joint in town. The service was exceptional with... More

Great atmosphere ,very good service. I had a Philly cheese steak sandwich,OMG. The best cheese steak ever, the bun toasted to perfection, did not fall out all over the place,I hate it when most of it ends up on your plate. Over all it was great can't wait to go back.

Disclaimer - I have been going here since they opened but they have recently renovated and gave the place a face lift. Consistently good food with friendly service. As others have stated, a great burger but there is a lot more to the menu than burgers. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Has been the best burger in Ridgefield until late. Bar scene can be unsavory esp. for young impressionable children. Food quality is slightly above bar food. Desperately needs a make over. Rugs look like they haven't been cleaned in years.

My husband and I still think, after many years, that Ancient Mariner has the best burger in Ridgefield. It's definitely not the presentation or the bun nor the outrageous extra amount they charge for a slice of cheese, but it's the flavor of the meat that just seems to stand out! We've left several times saying, o.k. - we won't... More
