Very good from start to finish . Food spot on & service from a younger “crew” very capable. A few more smiles and a couple more hospitality touches and you’re almost there . Must have had 5 different servers around us at any 1 given...time . A bit confusing but they were very “on” it . Thanks a lot for a great tea time treat !💥💥🌟🤓More

Food was good, but after we had finished our main course we were left sitting with our plates in front of us for 15mins. Numerous staff passed our table, but none attempted to clear our plates or ask if we wanted dessert. We decided to...go, explained to management the situation, they said what did we expect they were busy. Totally disinterested. Would not recommend.More

Recommended by a family member we made a reservation and ambled our way from our hotel in Newby Bridge to Allithwaite. Excellent parking ground (although seeme to get easilly full at busy times). A very welcoming place with an old world feel initially but leading...to a very modern space. The food was superb as was the service. The whole experience seemed very local which is always a good indicator. Staff were friendly and engaging. Spot on for a very enjoyabble evening meal which tasted and smelt as if it was freshly cooked.More

We rang to see if there was availability after a long hike, and a lovely waitress called Hannah answered. She was very accommodating, and greeted us upon our arrival. Charlotte noticed our table was a bit small for us with 6 foot boys on it!...She asked us if we wanted to move to the conservatory area. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody. The food was delicious and Charlotte and Hannah made our experience amazing. Thank you!More

Fabulous restaurant, very helpful and friendly staff and amazing food. We had the Sunday roast which was gorgeous - I'm not a big fan of red cabbage but it was sooo tasty that I would come back again just for that. The beef and turkey...were tender with a lovely range of potatoes, yorkshire pudding and gravy. A lovely lunchtime feast. Would definitely recommend and will return when we're next in the area .More

Arriving at The Pheasant I remembered visiting 10 years before & got excited. We hadnt booked & were definitely worried that we might not be fed but rest assured this is a very welcoming spot & we were taken to a table. I had the...most delicious chicken skewers with twice cooked chips & a divine salad side 11/10!! Hubby had a huge portion of steak pie chips & mushy peas & he barely spoke until it was all gone!! Another 11/10!! Visit or miss out!!More

We came here whilst away in the Lake District. We were so impressed with both the service and quality of food. I had the garlic king prawns to start and chicken skewers as a main. The prawns were the nicest prawns I have ever eaten....Exceptional. The chicken was cooked beautifully and was so lovely as well. It was like butter! My partner had the halloumi to start followed by a specials main of chicken and ribs, which again were beautifully cooked. We both came away very full and agreed this is the best restaurant and meal we have had in a long time! Our service was outstanding, the staff were incredibly friendly and approachable, which is hard to find these days. The restaurant and the decor is stunning. We will definitely return when back in Lake District.More

Brilliant food and service! We turned up late after the kitchen was closed, due to an unexpected issue at another location. The staff were very welcoming and kept the kitchen open late for us to eat. Gluten free options available and very tasty.

We came midweek early evening and I’d say booking is recommended. I liked that they had a separate area to seat families with younger children, and it’s the first place I’ve been to that has a menu for older children such as teenagers for ‘young...diners’. The main restaurant is lovely, nicely decorated, and tables well spaced out. The staff were really friendly and it had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious with good portion sizes and very reasonably priced given how nice the whole place was. Would definitely recommend and we will be back.More

We’re staying in a cottage nearby and have been twice now for lunch. Both times the food was excellent. Great choices, daily specials including starters, mains, desserts and pies. My mum is pescatarian and has found plenty of choices. Dog friendly in the bar area...which we love. The staff have all been so friendly and really make the atmosphere welcoming and lovely. We’re probably be going back again before we leave !More

This is place continually smashes me out of the park every time I come, and I am always sad to leave. I might actually come and live here. In a word: EXCEPTIONAL! We called on the off-chance to book a couple of nights (after turning up to a dirty room at our expected location). Being Sunday and Monday nights, The Pheasant fortunately had space. Upon ringing up, Martin was very courteous and understanding...of our difficulty. On arrival, Charlotte, the owners’ daughter, was most sympathetic and caring - we had had ‘one of those days’ and forgotten the toiletry bag; toothbrushes and toothpaste were readily brought up to us. Restaurant food that evening fortified - local, well-selected, flavoursome fayre cooked perfectly at a reasonable price. The decor in the restaurant is a joy to behold - taverna-esque with a subtle nod to the pheasant midst autumnal side panels. Breakfast was just as tasty and substantial.; Jackie and Amy were so friendly and helpful. The room was cosy - perfect for two - with a very comfy bed and the best power shower with decent toiletries to boot (maybe we hadn’t needed our bits after all!). Air con and remote control blinds with a large TV screen only added to our sense of worth as customers. The walk to Grange-over-Sands in the morning took us to a time often forgotten - where people smiled in the sunshine and were most friendly. This is a beautiful, unspoilt corner of the earth and The Pheasant is the ideal place to book and explore from. Thank you so much Keith and team! 😊More
