Basically the burgers, and food were great. The milkshake very good. Ambiance fun. However when you are sitting and eating and what appears to be the manager is running around berating employees in full view of the customers that is too much to take. First the girl getting food by the kitchen, and then others. Their facial expressions along with... More

The food was good, on the greasy side but tasty. Where I was sat was probably the smallest table in the place where my back of the chair was against a service wall and was uncomfortable. Another server did not seem concerned, I am not sure she understood my concern. My server was running around and I only saw her... More

The Charcoal Pit has been in Wilmington on US 202/Concord Pike forever - and it looks it. But don't let that stop you from going in for a great burger and milkshake. The place is ingrained with locals and was a regular stop on a summer Saturday night when I lived in Wilmington in the late 80s/early 90s. I enjoyed... More

Stopped here with my kids on a Saturday at lunchtime. I hadn't been here for over 20 years and it was still about what I remembered. The food was very good, staff was good as can be expected. Place was a little grungier than I had remembered but overall not a bad experience at all. I was more than happy... More

The Concord Pike location is the original, and a great local mainstay still going strong with its booths, counter, and juke box choices. Its thick malts, cheeseburgers, barbecue pulled pork, etc., and all the ice cream dishes from banana splits to gargantuan creations are straight out of fifties high school days - and very popular. there are also weekly specials... Tye place isna little worn but still nice. I had the delmonico steak. The cut was a little tough but it tasted fine. My son had the salmon and really enjoyed it. My son got the black and white shake and said it was the best shake he had ever had.

The food was good but the server was awful, showing up at the table every 5 minutes asking if we were done eating yet. I finally asked him to pack up my food so I could take it home and eat it in peace. I will never go back there, that's for sure.

I went here to eat and it was very good. Nothing out of this world, but everything was very satisfactory. And their milkshakes are GREAT!

Locally owned by just two family's over nearly fifty years - Nobody as messed with the standards - and the multitudes if imitators just have never knocked them out of the box. The burgers are good, but not exceptional, The ice cream milkshakes are so thick and good that they take about 3-4 minutes to make. Even then they are... More
