My friend and I love a good seafood shack and we were hoping for another good experience. Despite the cute location, the food was absolutely atrocious! We each got a pasta dish called the Fab 4 that was supposed to come with shrimp, scallops, mussels...and a cluster of crab legs along with a choice of soup or salad. Both the starters were underwhelming and our meals came out without crab. We alerted the server and were told that crab got too expensive so the chef gave us each more of the other items (no he didn't and we want what we ordered). We asked for the crab that should have been included to be brought out and proceeded to sample this nearly unpalatable meal. The mussels tasted like dirty bathwater, scallops were incredibly tiny and overcooked, shrimp flavorless, and the scampi sauce drowning the overcooked noodles and mushy corn on the cob was too salty and overall just bad. We sent back the food when the crab came and just ate that. It was also flavorless but better than anything else (It didn't even come with butter). We agreed to pay for the crab, but the owner/manager insisted that we also pay for the soup, salad and 6 shrimp that we ate combined between the two meals. The cost came out to a dollar more than the initial bill, and there was no attempt to apologize or do anything to rectify our bad experience. I am appalled at how little this place cares. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else! We will certainly never be back!More

Went there with a party of six. We all got appetizers. Conch Fritters, Shrimp Cocktail, and fried Veggies. They were all delicious. I got the fried shrimp, others got scallops, crab legs, Louisianna style gator. Every body was very happy with their meals except the...one with the crab legs, he didn't know how to crack them open. All in all it was a fun time and the food was great.More

Got there around 5 p.m. Thursday night. Sat outside on the patio. Waitress was right there and took our drink orders while handing each of us a menu. We received our drinks right away as did the waitress taking our food orders. The table ordered...the "All You Can Eat Catfish"; "Fried Grouper"; "Frog Legs" and "Fried Shrimp". Salads came quick with the correct dressings. The entrees were above average for the area. The corn that comes with each meal was so- so, nothing to write home about; baked potato was okay as was the sweet potatos, the fries are much better. All in all, everyone enjoyed their meal. (I did notice the tables and chairs were wiped down after each customer left). The evening was enjoyable ...More

Wow, where to start. We drive by often and decided to stop; we're new to the area. Upon sitting at the outside bar, we were astonished at the filth, dirt and dust throughout the ENTIRE indoor and outdoor seating/dining areas. It looked like not a...penny has been put into this place since 1970. Everything was old, broken and worn out. Cobwebs everywhere (overhead at the bar were also nests waiting to hatch). A good power wash and fresh paint is definitely needed. We decided to have a cocktail and leave, as we couldn't even put food on the gross bar, nor tables if we chose. I'm surprised the health department hasn't shut them down.More

8 of us rode our motorcycles to Stumpknocker Super Bowl afternoon. Nice ride out in the country on a lovely day. Plenty of parking and handi-capped inable. Whitney gave us menus and took our drink order. She was very efficient and has beautiful eyes(is it...ok to say that these days?) She had to cover a large area but took it all in stride..great service! Hamburgers, fries, catfish sandwich and mussels were liked by all. After we ate we walked along the river and watched the birds and the turtle sunning itself on a big rock. I'll be back sooner than later. RonMore

After taking scenic photos down at The Withlacoochee River the 5 of us had dinner in the enclosed screened in, outside section of Stumpknockers. Service from Whitney was excellent even though she was extremely busy. Our meals were delish, prices reasonable and my drink of...an old fashion was made correctly. Our only complaint was...a huge fire bowl in an adjacent area had a wood fire that wasn't started correctly so for a few minutes the smoke that blew our way was over-whelming and quite unpleasant.More

The restaurant is an favorite of ours. This location in on the river. Full bar service with indoor and outdoor seating..6 P.M. can start to be busy. No drink specials..Cole slaw is excellent, we also ordered the Escargots, they were o.k. not the best we've...had. But still tasty. We also each ordered the Seafood Platter. We ended up taking one of them home. Baked potate, large fish fillet, shrimp, scallops, oysters, and a large crab cake. You can order it fried, broiled, blackened. It's a quaint place good seating, parking lot is mostly grass and gravel, small amt. of pavement. One handicap space right at the front entrance. Ask for Jamie, he does an excellent job of service.More

Just disgusting to have a voodoo dog in a stroller, wheeled up to the booth next to us, like it was a child. Management should know that health laws exist for a reason. At best it was a "comfort animal" not a "service animal". The...seafood was fair at best and overpriced.More

Has been many years since eating here, just kind of out of the way from where we live. We had been shopping in Ocala today, decided to take a ride down hiway 200 towards Inverness. Stopped here , around 3pm for an early dinner. Neat...location on the Withlacoochee River. Wife ordered the Blacken Tilapia, baked potato and salad. She enjoyed very much. I ordered the Grouper dinner, fried, with fries. Salad was fresh and tasted great. My meal was a bit to greasy for me, actually had oil visible on top of the piece of fish, and the small piece of corn on cob was not edible, soft and mushy. Good beer and bar selections also available. I understand it is a “rustic” restaurant and destination, but the place could really use a good cleaning and painting inside and out. Neat place to visit, but food just “average”.More

Some restaurants allow dogs in outdoor areas only. If the dog is a registered service animal, then it can go anywhere.
