We had the pleasure to be taken here for dinner. We went on a Friday night and went early. We grabbed an outside table on the deck, it was a beautiful night. Between the three of us....we had the fried mushrooms( Hugh basket)and their couch fritters. I have been in the islands, these fritters where humongous...The guys went with the... More

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch. Well, guess what? They don't have a lunch menu. Everything on the menu is an entrée and since it was early afternoon, we just weren't ready for a full dinner meal. My husband ordered catfish and I ordered chicken. The food was good and the view out the window is pretty,... More

Sat outside but not a smart move in FL during caterpillar season as they would drop from the ceiling or craw up your chair. The food was pretty bland but they were big portions. The steak soup had the meat cut so small that it cooked the flavor out of it. The shrimp had a nice flavor in my dish... More

I've eaten some delicious food at this restaurant in Inverness, but on this visit the catfish was over fried and on the greasy side and the coleslaw so sweet I only ate a few bites. I asked for plain butter for my sweet potato but it was cold by the time I got it. I'll try it again, but it'll... More

Bit of a drive from the villages but certainly worth it. The place is on a river a fun to look at. Plenty of down home charm with church pews for you to rest on while you wait. The catfish was delish not greasy and they gave you more then enough. Service was good friendly and fast. I enjoyed the... More

You have a seating choice, inside air conditioned dining rooms or outside deck overlooking the meandering Withlacoochee River. The place tends to be busy so a call ahead is a good idea. The wait staff typically are seasoned veterans and take good care of their patrons. The kitchen offers classic Florida specialties such as gator and an assortment of fresh... More

My fried mushrooms were awesome. The queen cut prime rib was the largest prime rib I have ever seen. It was great. Stuffed flounder just so so. Our oyster master who grew up with oysters in Panama City was not impressed with her fried oyster meal. My wife never had fried catfish & asked for a sample. OMG the request... More

Suimpknockers has a lot of really good reviews for the catfish, I think it is average at best. However the other food I have had is excellent and sitting outdoors, ion the river, at either the Tiki bar or tiki dining room is great. The IPA beer is always ICE COLD too, a big plus for me. This is a... More

We had appetizers and drinks here after Capt. Mikes Lazy River Cruise. Best gator bites we had on the trip! The smoked fish dip was also wonderful. Well worth it.

We have been going to Stumpknockers occasionally over the course of 18 yrs. It has been sad for us to see and experience a steady decline over the past 5 yrs. The food quality, portions, presentation is far less than it used to be. Sure the restaurant is old and tried but it has become dirty overall and in particular,... More
