Cap's gets great reviews and that is why we went. We knew it was going to be somewhat expensive but thought it would be worth it. Not so fast! You take a small ferry ride to the island. The boat captain provides some information and shares his favorites. The buildings are old but nicely appointed. The menu is fairly descriptive... More

Loved soaking in the history of this place and it truly is authentic...I don't think they have done any building improvements since 1928 when it opened!! The good was average but fine. Hearts of palm salad which they have had since the restaurant opened was not very good...Helmanns with hard hearts of palm. Did not like at all. The fish... More

This restaurant is like no other! Once on an isolated island in Florida's Intracoastal Waterway, it now has super-upscale neighbors but the site itself retains the feel of its long-past days as a bootlegger saloon allegedly frequented by the likes of Al Capone. Guests arrive by skiff that travels just a few hundred yards from a landing in Lighthouse Point;... More

We went here for our anniversary. First of all the drive to the restaurant was beautiful due to all of the christmas lights in the homes at Lighthouse Point. We took a quick boat ride with a nice captain who gave us a brief historical tour. It's a nice restaurant to go also, as it has a casual atmosphere with... More

We had dinner here tonight after being recommended to Cap's from a friend. It was delicious!!! The crab cakes were amazing with a great sauce on the side- no fillers in these!! The yellowtail snapper was just as heavenly and you couldn't go wrong with the sweet mash (much better than the cheddar mash). Equally as good and fresh was... More

A friend of mine, long ago recommended that I go and check out Cap's Place. I finally made the long drive and I must say.....mehhh. The boat ride over was pretty cool, but the food wasn't really as great as I thought it was going to be. It was good, just not as great as I had hoped, certainly not... More

I first went to Cap's Place 25 years ago and found it to be an awesome, unique and enjoyable experience. Over the years we have introduced several close friends to Cap's and they too, without exception, loved it. Having not been there for a few years now, last night we took another couple who are good friends and neighbors and... More

Nancy took really good care of us and our handicapped family member. Food was exceptional. Private room for family dinner. Key lime pie was best ever. Atmosphere was quaint. Would definitely go back.

Party of 9 walks in goes to the bar, empty solo cups in hand, kicked out while we asked for a round of cocktails.
