We enjoyed a great Sunday lunch inside this small casual resturant. The staff was cheerful and attentive. We sat at a table near the bar and were glad to see that several televisions were tuned to channels other than NFL Football. It was obvious that...More

Tonight we had the homemade conch chowder and a crunchy 🦀 crab cake. Delicious meals! We regularly come here for lunch or dinner 😋!

We had lunch here, and the seafood, especially the crab claws, was as fresh as it could be. Very casual, eclectic atmosphere, very enjoyable lunch. The mango sangria added a unique and pleasurable element. Definitely worth the ride!

We ate here on four occasions whilst staying in Matlacha. The seafood was amazing especially the shrimp and mullet. The owners, John and Jessie were so hospitable and went out of their way to come round and introduce themselves and check everything was ok. Although...More

Very good food, awesome service. A must stop if you are visiting Pine Island. The beer flights are excellent. The wings with their special mango BBQ sauce are a treat. Seafood is among the best. I’m told the shrimp and grits and fish tacos are...More

From the outside, this place looks like a run down seedy dive bar, however once inside we were pleasantly surprised. Very modern, friendly staff, and CLEAN. We only stopped for a couple beers however the food looked delicious and serving sizes appeared to be large....More

Have read all the reviews, and after eating there three times (because friend invited us) it is difficult to see how this restaurant is rated so high. The menu, although has a lot to offer, doesn't have much in terms of good fish especially that...More

Blue Dog has great food, a decent beer section & the staff makes you feel welcome & they really hustle. I guess it has kind of been “discovered” now, it can be really busy. Good for them! I had the tnt shrimp tacos - ginormous...More

I had the Spicy Shrimp, They were large & fresh and came with Fries. They had lots of beers to choose from and also a good selection of fresh fish of the day.

Seriously? I'd rather a restaurant keep trying to improve, remedy problems if any, in short take care of business, than obsess over reviews and compose what are bound to be boiler-plate thanks or apologies to reviewers... More

Description
The goal of Blue Dog was to open a small, neighborhood restaurant in Matlacha, Florida the town we love. Our focus is on the small things that belong in a neighborhood restaurant. Being genuinely friendly, knowing the names of our guests and serving fresh local food at reasonable prices. Our hope is that the neighborhood grows to trust us and makes us an extension of their homes. The white boots (locally called 'Pine Island Reeboks') that 'Blue' wears on our logo are a nod to the rich past and current fishing history of Pine Island and Matlacha. These boots are worn by commercial fishermen all along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida. From our family, we'd like to give our thanks to every crabber, fisherman, shrimper, oysterman, and all the commercial fishermen on the entire Gulf Coast but particularly Matlacha and Pine Island, for the sacrifices you have made to carry on the traditions of your fathers. It's one of the things that makes us proud to call Matlacha and Pine Island home. This is a great community. We have weathered storms...together. We work hard...together. We play hard...together and when the day is done...those white boots are put out to dry. Come, eat well, have a brew and sit with us for a while...and the dog is happy.
