This restaurant is spacious and has a lively ambience. The food is cooked right in front of you. The price is reasonable and more importantly the food is delicious. Service is very good and professional.

Makoto's is a fun place for a meal. The cooks are always entertaining and we often meet interesting folks at the table. My wife and I have been there numerous times with friends and business associates. Lunch prices are very reasonable for the huge amount of food that you get. We always end up with leftovers.

Hubby and I eat lunch here about once a month. The food is always good and the portions are huge; I usually have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The only downside is service usually isn't that friendly or great (servers not the cooks).

After so many years not been to Melbourne and to makoto , I was keen to take my lunch as I was passing by that area. But I was disappointed by the taste of the food. It was very bad compared what it used to be before. I wish I did not go there.

The main sushi chef is no longer working there so the quality of the fish and the rolls is not the same. Although the new guys are trying hard, the creativity is no longer present.... sad.

Arrived around 11:15 on a Monday. By noon time the place was packed. Was able to have lunch before the crowd arrives. Great food as always. A great place for dinners and to celebrate a special occasion.

We reserve one of the small Japanese type private rooms - where you can sit on pillows and enjoy the private chef preparing a delicious 6 course meal! the severing size... More

My wife and I had the occasion to visit Makoto for an early dinner. We hadn't been to a Japanese steakhouse in years and decided to give it a try. We certainly weren't disappointed! Great steaks and fresh seafood, super service and a great show! The bill was a wonderful surprise. Super value for money. We will certainly be back!

I've been coming to Makoto's for the better part of forty years and it never gets old. The things that I didn't like as a kid I now love - I'm talking about you ginger dressing and liver pate'. You will be tempted to eat anything and everything they put in front of you and, if you don't, they'll wrap... More
