Their salsa is fresh, the mole sauce is simply the best I've ever had. Love the enchiladas. My family has been coming here for 40 years.

This is truly a gem in Palmetto! Great Mexican food, reasonably priced. Overall a great value. I take family & friends there frequently.

I very much agree with John W. Authentic Mexican Homestyle? Only if the cheese comes out of a can along with the refried beans. Chimichanga ground beef filling had no onion, peppers or spices. 'Salsa' was puréed tomato with lots of salt. This was very likely the worst Mexican food I have ever gotten. In this area I would stick... More

I always try to see the best where I choose to eat but Alvarez leaves much to be desired. Being a vegetarian, veggie fajitas are often my meal of choice. Eating on the patio during a sunny FL afternoon was pleasant. The service was efficient. But..... the salsa was nearly flavorless, the chips tasted like they came out of a... More

After trying a number of supposed "Mexican Restaurants" in the Palmetto/Bradenton area, I decided to confine my dining out to Seafood, Italian and Sushi. The only really decent Mexican food I discovered was served from food trucks and trailers along the roadside. Alvarez is a refreshing improvement. I'll admit to being spoiled by all the great, out-of-the-way family owned restaurants... More

Great food, service. Good for breakfast. Enchiladas are the best. And try the flan. Pleasant waitress.

Don't let the billboard/sign out front trick you. "Authentic"? NO "Home cooking"? NO "Good service"? NO Don't waste your time. Your money is better spent elsewhere. VERY DISAPPOINTED

This place is rather dumpy in appearance but super popular for median. Food is good and prices are fantastic. I have been eating here for over 15 years. Places don't survive that long if there no good. Come with a big appetite

We had 11 in our group(Judas betrayed us)(Joke).. They seated us quickly not efficiently(pole separating four of us. Elizabeth was our server(seen her do better). Salsa was watered down and tasteless, chips appeared stale.. Dinner was OK across the board, not sensational or outstanding. One person had Carne Asada was just OK, they made it steak n peppers, NOT ASADA.... More
