My wife and I have eaten here while visiting two or three times a year for almost fifty years. Tonight we got the first bad meal we've ever gotten there. We each ordered a Greek salad, baked potato and char broiled red snapper. The salad was served without feta cheese; the baked potatoes were so cold the butter wouldn't melt... More

I have never ate at such a fancy restaurant. The food was amazing. I ate off everyone's plate because I had to try it all! I even got 2 pieces of pie! Thank you so so much

We went to Captain Anderson's on the last night of our stay in Panama City Beach. It was recommended by a few locals. It did not disappoint! Staff very friendly and professional. We were seated right away (We went early on a Friday evening. I don't believe they take reservations) and the decor was beautiful and tastefully done in a... More

Honestly I don't know how this place gets the reviews that it does. This is a complete tourist trap with subpar food. It's old, outdated, and smells. The waitress was probably one of the rudest waitresses I have ever had. She started out with throwing down some cold rolls never saying hello or anything. One of us asked "are the... More

I had the Greek style grouper with lots of scallions on top. Green beans had a nice seasoning although they looked a bit anemic as if they had been sitting around too long. My partner had the amazing garlic shrimp and lots of them! Server Tina was so professional and extremely efficient. Menu did not mention that hush puppies came... More

My wife and I went to Capt. Andersons for a date night and were impressed. The dining room was nice with a view of the marina and the service was fantastic. The food was prepared good and tasted good. I will definitely be going back to Capt. Andersons and recommend it to anyone visiting or living in the area.

Captain Anderson was a great restaurant with a romantic atmosphere and great food. Serving fresh fish and seafood, the best meal you could ask for in Panama City.

This is a PCB institution for good reason. The setting with half ton Blue Marlin on display and the chance to sit next to the floor length window overlooking the fishing boats coming in and cleaning and unloading their catch is not to be missed. They have every kind of great local seafood with a very large selection. It is... More

Arrived at 8 and got right in on a Friday night (before the town gets busy for the summer I'm sure but it has a huge dining area) Dinner was excellent and Heather Y was a great waitress! She kept a steady flow of food delivered to our table and was very considerate of our needs. Margaritas were very good... More

Description
Capt. Anderson's restaurant is one of those rare "family" restaurants that not only survives, but strengthens and improves through the years. The landmark waterfront restaurant is celebrating its 46th anniversary in 2013, and every year has witnessed remarkable growth without loss of quality. The restaurant has grown to 725 seats and, six nights a week, serves over 250,000 guests during its 8 month season. Founders, Jimmy and Johnny Patronis set high standards of hard work and consistency for the younger Patronis generations, and they still pull their shifts at the busy restaurant, stopping by to welcome old friends and loyal customers... occasionally bussing a table or taking a special order. Their passion for the business is undoubtedly the root of Capt. Anderson's success.Named among America's Top 50 restaurants, recipient of the "Best Seafood Restaurant" award from Southern Living and Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence," Capt. Anderson's won Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Award for 15 years before being inducted into the Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2005. The Hall of Fame is the highest honor Florida Trend can bestow upon a Florida restaurant.Year 'round, the Patronis family works with fishermen, oystermen and others who make their living harvesting the Gulf and Bay waters, to preserve the natural oyster beds of Apalachicola Bay... to build artificial reefs... and protect the fragile coastal ecology. Preserving and replenishing the rich natural bounty of the Gulf Coast is part of the Capt. Anderson’s legacy, one of the most important reasons this landmark restaurant is known for serving more fresh local seafood than any other restaurant in Florida.

Jimmy,

Greetings!

Public feedback to your questions (Also sent you the same in an email).

First, I will say we were totally floored by our Capt Anderson’s dining experience. So much so we questioned whether we were dining at the right restaurant.

We were in PCB from 10/25 thru 11/08 and Capt Anderson’s was very highly recommended by two other couples, hotel desk clerk, and a waiter at another restaurant (Long Horn).

We were told to arrive early because the restaurant would get very busy later in the evenings (we could expect a 45 mins or more wait) and made aware Capt. Anderson’s was scheduled to close up for the season the middle of November through the beginning of February.

Q: What night did you dine with us?

A: This was not an evening dinner but rather a late afternoon. ETA was between 4:30-4:45pm (sun still up, no waiting, promptly seated). When we did leave it was after sunset and there were a lot of people in the lobby and outside patio area waiting to get in. Sorry, I do not have specific date. Unfortunately, I decided to pay cash rather than wait to pay by credit card. Otherwise, I would have exact date and time as we keep our CC receipts to tie back to our purchases. Speaking of which, I do not have CC dining receipts for the early evenings of 10/30(Th), 10/31(Fr), 11/01(Sa) or 11/03(Mo).

Q: what you ordered?

A: Entrée:

      a) Filet mignon med well (w/potato).

      b) Broiled gulf scallops (w/salad).

Q: Who your server was?

A: Do not remember our server's name. She was quite polite, very busy waiting tables, and apologetic about our meals. We sat at a table for two on the left side of the upper dining area next to a handrail overlooking a lower dining area and view of boats at the docks. Next to our table (away from the rail) is the table where the party of six was seated. Again, when we got our check I (1) unfortunately paid cash rather than having to wait paying by credit card and (2) I did not take the dining receipt as I should have. When exiting the dining area the lobby and outside entrance areas were packed with people waiting to dine. As my wife and I approached our car in the parking lot she said “I hope they have a better dining experience.”.
