In the past, I was always very impressed with this place, but lately it has been inconsistent. The banana pudding is usually excellent, but they often sell out early in the day. This is a real drag when it happens repeatedly. The last time we had it, they did something wrong while preparing it, and it didn't taste the way it's supposed to. The blackberry cobbler tastes like raisins. Not sure why that is. It's also more of a pie than a cobbler, since they use pie crust instead of biscuit dough. Biscuit dough is standard with cobbler. The peach cobbler's flavoring is better, but still biscuit dough. The carrot cake is okay, but too rich, and you need to scrape a lot of icing off in order to enjoy it. The ribs are usually excellent, but they are not consistent. I tried one the other day, and it tasted like beef for some reason. On top of that, the fat seemed to have rendered out of it, so I think the ribs were overcooked. The burgers are all right, but I received a "medium" that was actually well done. I ordered fried green tomatoes. They lacked seasoning. The waitress said they were out of ranch dressing, and she offered me bleu cheese. It would have been better to 86 the appetizer, because bleu cheese does not work with fried green tomatoes. I suspect the tomatoes were from a restaurant supply house, because the batter was just too perfect. The brisket is great. Fries are above average. The fried banana peppers are too bland. If Artman's was consistent, I'd give it 5 stars, but after repeat problems, I can't do that. You're taking your chances if you eat here.

Very homey and intimate inside, not much of a “vibe” for dining as it felt like we were sitting in a house but the food was very very good. We each had a “Moink” ball to start us off as we waited for our entrée, the bacon was flavorful and the mustard sauce added a nice touch. The food was moist and tender, it was hard to resist eating all of the massive plate, but I wanted left overs. I heard good things about the corn casserole, it was good, but not for me.

Delectable- eager friendly greeting.server soon at the table for the two late lunch orders: pulled pork, coleslaw and potato salad with a cornbread square. Second order identical except for brisket. Generous plates arrived quickly. Smokey, moist, tender with exquisite flavor. Despite both individuals at the table being very hungry and nearly swooning at the delicious food, the servings were so generous that the leftovers were destined to be next day complete meals.

Second visit not remarkable

Last time here was over 2 years ago as establishment is a little way from my home. Stopped in just after 3:00 pm and seated promptly. Place not too busy and a lot of carry out biz observed passing out the front door. Waiter was energetic & on his game during our entire stay. He seated us promptly. We started out with smoked moinks & jalapeños for appetizers. Both were brought to table in <10 minutes. We were told we got the last two moinks available but unfortunately were not any too warm when served. Jalapeños were fantastic. I ordered the 1/2 slab of St.Louis style ribs with collard greens, Mac ‘n cheese & Texas toast for sides. Food was brought to table with 10 minutes. Nice size portions. Collard greens were super hot but ribs & mac ‘n cheese barely qualifying for warm. Wife had similar situation with mashed potatoes served barely warm & requested replacement, but no improvement on second batch brought to table. The food taste flavor was exceptional but then we less than hot food servings ruined the experience. I privately conferred our experiences to our waiter prior to departure re: kitchen needing to improve their processes to get their food brought to the table hot.

Artman Country Smokehouse for BBQ

This was our worst experience at a BBQ restaurant. We sat outside and when no wait staff came, I went inside to get menus. Finally a waitress came to take our drink orders. When she brought the drinks, we immediately ordered our BBQ. We waited so long for our food (probably 45 minutes) that I went back inside and asked what happened to our food. The restaurant was only half full. When the food finally arrived, the BBQ was barely lukewarm (almost cold) and had no flavor. My husband only ate half of his BBQ and what he took home, he decided to throw away. We will not be back to this BBQ place again. There are a lot of good BBQ places in the area but this in not one of them.

28 of us descended on Artman’s (w/ reservations, of course) today for lunch and were overwhelmed with their efficiency and the quality of the food was outstanding. As our server took each order on his iPad, it went straight to the kitchen so they weren’t exasperated and bombarded with 28 all at once. In the blink of an eye, we were served and the server knew exactly which meal went to each diner. The servers were attentive but not “in your face”. The location was quite a jaunt from our abodes but it was well worth the trip. We’ve been there before and shall return.

Drove by here shortly after 1130 am and saw parking lot filling up…then remembered hearing of this place and always in a positive manner. Stopped in and place was bustling. Was seated promptly and offered menus and waters at same time. Waitress gave us her sales pitch and we opted for the “papa’s special” so we could sample a little of everything as she said. We were brought a huge platter of food with 3 meats (brisket, pulled pork & chicken) and 3 sides that were all equally delicious. Not to mention the “moinks” that came as an appetizer. Got to try them! The brisket was phenomenal and we tried all 3 of their bbq sauces as well. A lot of food for two! I’d highly recommend this place if haven’t been here before. We’ll be back to try the dry rubbed ribs on our next visit.

Disappointed

We went to eat our weekly lunch special of ribs. Normally the ribs are huge and very meaty today the ribs were about 4 inches long with maybe three bites of meat on them. We did complain and the waitress said she was sorry, but this is what the supplier was sending them now. Very disappointed. We go at least once a week and I’ve never been disappointed before and I’ve always left full. I won’t be ordering the ribs again.

Clean rooms, good location, convenient travel, close to the airport, can hear some airplane noise. But it's okay. In the evening there are a lot of people. Near restaurants, bars and near Nimman Day, Maya Mall, coffee shops, good breakfast, lovely staff. Helpful and friendly

This place was recommended to us by our driver from the airport and several pool pals. We will definitely be back. Tori, our waitress was great. She was friendly, energetic and offered honest recommendations. We decided the New Papa's Special was a perfect way to sample a wide variety of the menu. We were intrigued by the moinks - a cheese filled meatball wrapped in bacon - a great flavor combination and unique specialty. I would recommend everyone try them. My husband and I agreed, the brisket was definitely our favorite. We did like the pulled pork and chicken, but the brisket won our affections hands down. The baked beans were sweet and syrupy with a very nice flavor. The mayo based cole slaw was very fresh and crisp with a hint of sweetness. The collard greens were good, but were more like spinach than a hearty collard. My husband thought the garlic bread was unexpectedly exceptional, but the corn bread was a little dry, so he sauced it with some bbq sauce. We liked all three sauce options on the table - hot, sweet and tangy. We were told everything is made in house. I look forward to trying other sides and having more brisket. The restaurant was very clean, neat and offered great service. We thought it was a counter service restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised when Tori came to our table to take our order. Don't miss this hidden gem.

Delicious BBQ near The Villages.

We really enjoyed this little smokehouse restaurant. The ribs and pulled pork were excellent. The huge selection of sides they offer make it tough to narrow down which two to order with the entrée. We had corn casserole, green beans, and collard greens. All were delicious. We tried their "Moinks" and those little meatballs (made with ground beef and sausage, filled with cheese and wrapped in bacon.) WOW! You need to try them, for sure. They were swamped by customers, but Selena, Kayla and the other employees did a great job! It's not fancy, but we will be going back for another BBQ fix!

Four of us enjoyed the food and service. We had different meals and agreed all were tasty...ribs and brisket, chicken and brisket, liver and onions, and pork sandwich. Compliments on the sides baked beans, corn casserole, and slaw. We will be back! It is a shame it is not bigger!

Tried the smoked turkey today. Omg it was like licking a block of salt No lettuce or tomato or anything on the bun. Would never order it again.. Had a side of green beans, please tell me they were not out of a can from Sysco. Great servers but questionable on the food. Collards look and taste like spinach.

A very nice place with huge portions and fair prices, but need improvements in their potatoes salad (too big chunks) and pull pork needs a little more fat, so it won't be too dry! Chicken smoke ok, but sometimes, grill with crispy and well seasoned, probably, better! All around top 4 stars.🤓

Hubby and I came here after spending the day at Disney. It was around 3:00 and the place was fairly full. We chose our own table and was immediately waited on and drinks ordered. We both chose from the Special Entree Early Bird menu. He had the Brisket and fries and I had the pulled pork with baked beans and fries.....both were $9.99 each. In just a few minutes our meal arrived piping hot minus the fries. They always make the fries to order so you know how fresh and absolutely delicious they are. My baked beans were as good as my hubby makes and both meats were fabulous. There was an abundance of fries and meat so we will have another meal one day this week. A piece of delicious cornbread also came with the meal. We have been here before and have never been disappointed. We will be back.
