I just recommended this place to a friend who is in Bdos right now. When I and my partner were there we stopped regularly at Sand Dunes for a big plate of delicious Bajan lunch and a few Banks beers. My partner who had never been to Barbados before, said "THIS is how chicken is meant to taste!" You feel... More

Our tour stopped at this quaint eatery on the east coast for lunch, and I was quite pleased - very speedy service, a nice variety of main dishes (including a vegetarian option). A fun location and a nice lunch just when we needed it. My one suggestion would be to go a little lighter on the carbs. :)

We ate lunch at the Sand Dunes while touring with a guide in Barbados. It's definitely off the beaten path for tourists and offers traditional island food. My wife and I both had the flying fish, which came with rice/peas, macaroni pie, and salad. The food was fresh and well-prepared. We recommend Sand Dunes for a local taste of Barbados.

Absolutely great "local" lunch here in a totally unassuming very local-attended restaurant. Fast, friendly truly "Bajan" place.

Went to a nearby attraction and came across this place as we started to head back towards the West Coast. As there were cars parked and a mix of tourists and Bajans eating here, we gave it a try and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent lunch we had here. Not too expensive - good food.

We first visited the Sand Dunes when it was a small Rum Bar style bar in 1997. We have revisited every visit to Barbados since. Over time the place has been developed, not over developed, but maintains it's original character. It has been discovered by some of the smaller tour operators, so is considerably busier now. The service is still... More

Stopped here for lunch while on an island tour mainly to taste authentic Bajan food. We were not disappointed. I had fried flying fish and macaroni pie delicious my husband had chicken along with a chick pea side dish. The coleslaw/potato salad side dish was scrumptious too. Not expensive freshly cooked and friendly. Loved it.

The place is nothing special to look at and is not fancy inside at all. The lady server is a bit grumpy but she did produce a lovely plate of macaroni casserole which was washed down with a bottle of Banks beer - refreshed and on we go!

Note it is not open for dinner it closes at 4. But it is great local food, great portions and very fair prices. You have to sit outside and enjoy the breeze have a local beer and order the flying fish and macaroni pie.

Interestingly enough we were served the very same menu on a catamaran cruise the next day (Flying fish, barbecue chicken, macaroni casserole, potato salad). Sand Dunes did it much better. The only issue I had with the food was that I had to beg for sliced lemons to go with the fish. I decided that must not be a typical... More
