A friend and I enjoyed lunch at Cakes and Ale during the 2016 Decatur Book Festival. We both ordered quiche with salad and enjoyed beverages from their very interest (in a good way) wine list. A very comfortable spot in which to linger over a long lunch.

Very little parking;no valet. Best to use Uber. Funky/cute neighborhood. This restaurant was highly rated, but I am not sure why. Very limited menu. VERY expensive. The gnocchi was 'canned' (if there is such a thing)! And the sauce was not as good as Chef Boyardee. HOWEVER, the risotto/rice balls were the best I've ever had ! And we had... More

My hubby and I are fortunate to frequent this place about 4 - 6 times per month (We live in Decatur just down the street) and are thrilled that it made it to the Atlanta Magazine's list of top restaurants in Atlanta. A much deserved recognition. The staff is friendly, warm and conversational - particularly the bartenders, who are true... More

Fabulous good, perfect service, laid back atmosphere- this place has it all. The server nailed it when we asked for help picking the perfect bottle of wine. Both the duck and pork loin were outstanding as were the oysters and calamari/shrimp appetizers. It's not inexpensive, but it was certainly worth it.

Cakes and Ale was voted one of the best restaurants in Atlanta and had always lived up to this accolade. However, our experience last night was sorely disappointing. Basically, the food, for its quality, is highly overpriced. The portions were shockingly limited in relation to the cost. We ordered "family style" as we have always done. The Greek salad which... 8/17/2016 Tuesday - 6:00 PM My wife and I have been to the bakery side of Cake & Ale many times and had always talked about going to the restaurant side but didn't make it until last even. We celebrated our daughters big promotion with a great meal. To start with Heather waited on us and had some great ideas... More

The food here is excellent. Good food, great wine, good service. No complaints. A little pricey but it is what it is. The decor is clean and efficient, just the way you want a restaurant to be. I always like restaurant establishments to have a little diversity in their staffing but this had little to none so I do not... More

I went to Cakes and Ale with a friend from out of town. I had heard a lot of buzz that the food was great. We decided to split an appetizer, entree and dessert. There were some interesting combinations of ingredients and overall the food was very good. Unfortunately, the limited menu was a disappointment. If one wants a lot... More

Very nice dinner atmosphere, great service and super food You can trust the recommendation/s of you waiter. Menu changes daily, and ensures fresh ingredients and varity in their dishes. Enjoyed thouroughly our meals. We followed the advise and chosed several starters and meals and shared amongst a group of three. Accompanied with a good wine, we enjoyed every bite! A... More

I had dinner with two colleagues last night at Cakes & Ale Restaurant. Our server Jeramie was a delight, he knew the entire menu, was able to describe how each plate was prepared and made excellent recommendations! Everything we ordered was excellent, my favorite flavors were found in the peach tertian, the gnocchi and the tomato salad. My colleague had... More

Description
A "true foodie find" in Downtown Decatur, chef-owner Billy Allin's American "separates itself" from the usual culinary scene with "fresh", "vivacious" food that "epitomizes the farm-to-table movement", plus "unrivaled" cocktails in a refined, "unassuming" setting.
