We vacationed in the Hiawassee area after Christmas. We chose to go to the Chophouse on New Year's Eve because it seemed like it would be a great dining experience. It wasn't terrible but it was definitely not up to the level that they sell themselves and price their meals. They ran a special 4 course meal that my son... More

We struggled to find somewhere suitable to eat, but this fitted the bill. The food was well cooked and the service good.

It's just been announced that this place is closing for renovations, and reopening with a new concept. Our recent experience would indicate that this is a good idea. Overpriced and substandard (cold steak, wrong sides, overdressed salad) added up to an expensive lesson in where not to go for a special night out.

Dear Miami Girl48, Thank you for taking the time to post a Trip Advisor Review for my restaurant. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your experience with us. The Chophouse of Hiawassee is now closed. We are currently undergoing a substantial renovation and we be opening the new concept "Hawg Wild BBQ and Catfish Hosue in the near future. I look... More

Visited here for an early dinner in the middle of the week between Christmas and New Years. Service was excellent. I ordered the Prime Rib, hubby had a burger, our guests had the trout and the special (ribeye and shrimp). We inquired about the appetizers and at the recommendation of our wait staff - ordered the portobello mushrooms! Yummm Eeeee!... More

I really enjoyed the old Shoney Restaurant that used to occupy this building! Still wonder why they left? We first tried the Chophouse of Hiawassee shortly after they first opened! Absolutely the most horrendous service I've ever experienced! The service was so bad I can't even recall now, what the food was like? I made a polite comment to someone... More

We lunched here as we usually do while in the area. Food seemed subpar this time. Quesadilla was greasy, French onion soup very oniony. Thought we'd order the Friday lunch special thatweve enjoyed in the past. We were there during the lunch menu but the special stopped an hourand half before lunch ended=odd! We learned the restaurant will be closing... More

If you cannot leave the City Limits of Hiawassee, then the Chophouse is just fine. But if you're willing to drive ten more minutes, the definitely go to Copper Door in Hayesville or to Enrico's in Young Harris. For the money, the Chophouse was nothing special and had service that rivaled an Applebee's. For us, we ordered a bottle of... More

Anytime we are in Hiawassee, we go to the Chophouse. We love the steak! It is cooked correctly and yummy. This is more of an upscale dining establishment, good for date night or entertaining guests. Make reservations or you will be waiting awhile at dinner time.

We always split a meal at most restaurants so we were a bit annoyed to be told there was a $5 up charge to share. But as we were there and tired we said ok. Well it was worth it. We each got a complete salad of our choice, starch of our choice and wonderfully cooked green beans. The bread... More

We were staying next door and went there because of convenience. The restaurant was not what I would call a fine dining place. I expected it to be priced something like Applebee's, O'Charley's, or Red Lobster. My husband got a bison burger and I got she crab soup and a wedge salad. We had one iced tea and one water.... Dear Roger, Thank you for taking the time to post a Trip Advisor review on your visit to The Chophouse of Hiawassee. Our menu is very diverse and has something for everyone, from salads and burgers to steaks and seafood. I'm not not sure how you paid over $60.00 for the items you listed. Our bison burger is $11.99, she... More
