We were looking for a nearby restaurant, reading reviews and the Golden Lake was highly rated with a shuttle service. The staff were so thoughtful, the food was delicious with large portions. We ordered the calamari, chicken with cashews, mussels and spring rolls. All were well prepared and presented with a Polynesian flair. The calamari was amazing. The restaurant was filled with local families enjoying a night out together which was also nice.

Sept 21, 2023 at 1330 hours The food was great! The service was horrible!! We had chicken fried rice, special chow mein and fried shrimp. The "fried" shrimp was whole and required peeling. Not what I expected! The chow mein & rice were great and were huge portions. As for the service, it was aweful! The server was rude and not engaging verbally at all. We arrived 30 minutes before closing time at 1400 hours and it was clear that the server wasn't happy about that because we were told, ten minutes after our arrival, that we had to hurry and order because they closed at 1400 hours. The server never spoke to us unless we spoke first and it was obvious that she was put out by our presence. Not one smile and never checked on us again after the food arrived. We asked for a second drink and she was not happy & then it took her 10 minutes to make the drinks because cleaning dirty dishes from other tables was obviously more of a priority. We had to get up from the table to ask for our bill. This person should not be waiting on customers in a restaurant or any other place.

A restaurant with atypical charm, with a Chinese decoration a little kitsch but full of character. The dishes are generous and succulent (with the exception of lacquered duck, which I do not recommend). We particularly loved chickens with mushrooms and Cantonese rice, among the five or six dishes we ordered. The service is warm, with good advice and always smiling. We appreciated the calm of the place and the generosity of the portions. This restaurant really deserves a detour for a unique culinary discovery.

Our concierge at the Sofitel recommended this restaurant. Horrible food and rude staff. We brought a family of eight people and from the moment we walked in we were not treated well. Not to mention they do not inform you that it is family style. They allowed us to order almost $600 worth of food knowing we had ordered too much. You only need to order 1-3 dishes for at least 6-8 people. The restaurant was dirty, bugs on the floor, rude staff and overall not worth the price. If you want a good meal in Moorea… go to the Moorea Beach Cafe or Rudy’s.

Hello, thank you for your opinion. We are sorry for what may have happened to you in our restaurant. We also do not understand your exaggerated opinion. Our restaurant is renowned for its cleanliness, our dishes are highly appreciated and we strive to offer our customers quality service. In Chinese catering in French Polynesia, the dishes are put in the middle and shared, it's like that everywhere. Then in our menu, we deliberately put photos of our dishes. Recommend by a friend we had dinner for a group of 8 in early January . The restaurant picked us up from the hotel and dropped
Is back which was a nice service .
Unpin arrival the restaurant was very busy and took 2 and a half hours for our food to come out . On top of this they got one order wrong .
When complained to one of the staff at the cashier desk he said oh well I told you to order and entree as I knew there would be a wait. When I told him he should have a least told me it was going to be that Ling he replied saying that it would not be commercially viable . In short he did not care one bit.
The food was nice enough bit at 10 pm we were no longer hungry.

The place is huge but very few people.
The menu is provided, which is not necessarily a good sign: it is confirmed when we taste the dishes, without flavor.

I found this place on a street food tour. Went back to get more. They have all sorts of Chinese snacks like wontons, egg rolls, crab beignets. The best thing I had was a baguette sandwich with show mein noodles, some meat or fish, and a yummy sauce, called a crasse croque (also comes in a more traditional French ham and cheese version). So good. Plus you can get ready made meals like rice with Tahitian tuna for a fraction of the restaurant prices. THe place is always jumping.

We were treated beautifully at the golden lake restaurant in Moorea- anticipating our arrival, our table was ready for us and our two teenage kids. We were given ample time to consider the large selection of the menu and then our order was taken and all questions answered kindly. Our food was the best part as it was brought out timely and was hot and delicious. We ordered the peppered beef, skillet of satay chicken, chow mein, rice and spring rolls. Everything was delicious- both of my kids finished their food and raved about the non-pretentious restaurant and yummy food.
the drink list is pretty extensive and the restaurant had a family friendly vibe.

My Chinese wife missed home food after such ling trip from Shanghai, we were looking for chinese food and we were not disappointed.the food is sometimes bettrr than i experienced in local restaurant. The cooks comes from Hongkong and they know there stuff. A big bravo to the staff dini who made our lunch exceptional by such a good support, advice and smile

We ate dinner on here a Saturday evening and there was really good live music and a lot of locals eating there so it was a fun atmosphere. There were so many choices on the menu so there should be something appealing to almost anyone. We had chow mein and pineapple chicken and it was good and the portion sizes were large. The prices were affordable - which we were grateful for after quite a few expensive meals. The restaurant also provided transportation from our hotel which was very convenient. We enjoyed our meal!

Had a reservation and was seated right away. It was a weeknight but they were busy. We were able to order in a timely manner but were told right away that there would be a 50mn wait for the food to be served. Well, it ended up being an hour and a half wait. The food was not outstanding, just ok Chinese food. Definitely not worth the wait.

The Chinese food here was fantastic - had the stir fry chicken, stir fry beef and tofu! All were excellent, reasonably priced and generously portioned. They even provided a free transfer fro the Sofitel. Tried to return the following night but unfortunately they were not able to provide transfers. Next time I'm in Moorea, this will be my go to restaurant!

After a few day’s hotel food, we are looking for something different and Golden lake is the place to be. Huge portion (Choi mei could feed two easily), decent quality (considering Chinese food in Moorea!) and a huge variety on the menu. We ordered deluxe Choi mei, spicy chicken, spicy fish (craving for some spices!) and ice cream. We boxed left over to go which was our second meal. Definitely recommended.

This is a delicious Chinese food restaurant and it’s where the locals eat. All the food is delicious that we had. We went on a Saturday night and there was live music. It was really fun watching the locals sing along and the kids dancing. Each dinner was more than enough for 2 people. Be sure to try the specialty which is Passionfruit cheesecake. Wow! It is amazing!
They also have a snack bar outside the restaurant that has wonderful food at great prices. Be sure to try the local specialty of a chow mein sandwich on a baguette with Barbecue sauce! It was so good we ate it two days ina row!

We visited this place during our food tour and we then came back 2 or 3 times. It is a good spot to grab something to take with you. Anything from a morning pastry (their coconut bread is very good) to a quick lunch to go (sandwich, baguette, etc). Nothing fancy but quick, inexpensive and good variety.
