Chef Ray and team continues to practice strict Covid safety measures and protocols. There are glass partitions between each table, and tables are all 6 feet apart or more. There is a bottle of hand sanitizer on each table. Restrooms are super clear. All staff...wear masks when serving and/or cooking. Food and presentations are superb as always. They also do take-away as well as cooking classes with Chef Ray on Zoom now! We highly recommend everyone to try this restaurant and classes with Chef who is personable, gracious, and kind. Once Covid is done, we plan to book the entire place for one night to celebrate parents' wedding anniversary. Absolutely 3-Star Michelin!!More

Dined last night with my two sisters and husband and wow did we have a great time. They of course followed all covid precautions, you barely noticed the glass partitions between tables or the fact that our server had to explain the dishes through a...mask and goggles. They were SO ACCOMMODATING when it came to allergies, no issues and could modify my husbands dish of choice. They had about 4 specials which I think is so unheard of in a pandemic! Wow! We all ordered a different dish, except for the pork belly which we got 2, so that was 8, count them 8 pieces of pork belly!! Do not skip this dish. They aren’t reinventing the wheel with their dishes, just perfecting things like lamb, octopus and scallops. Now let’s talk about the size of these dishes because this is something that is unheard of. The portions bring you back to a size you would expect. In today’s dining many places give you laughable tiny food on huge dishes. Not here - leftovers for breakfast!!! It’s worth the drive to Pelham for this gem.More

Four of us had dinner (appetizers, main courses, desserts) and loved everything about our experience. The food was incredible and served in generous portions. The service was friendly but non-intrusive. The socially distanced outdoor tent—each table is given its own tent— made us feel like...we were in a private dining room. This was the best dining experience I’ve had in 2020.More

Took our niece and husband. It was raining and cold. We were seated outside on what was the old parking lot. What a great atmosphere. Four 10x10' tents, two across from each other with a heater in between. Our reservation was delayed as the previous...people lingered. They gave us some options inside the basement (don't go there, too sterile an environment but the upstairs also looked great) but we stayed with tents. The staff sent over a prosecco and an order of Parma fries which was much appreciated. Got our table after about 20-30 minutes. Inside the tent we were warm and dry. Service was great and the food was as well. Two of us had the beef short rib pasta which was excellent. My wife had the fish which was also great. So my advice, as strange as it seems, go for the tents in the back especially during these times.More

Root & Bone Fonthill, the reviews seems like you are about to walk into a magical fairyland with the worlds finest foods about to be hand selected for your meal. Not the case at Root & Bone. It would be nice if Root & Bone...put as much effort into their food/service as they do their cutlery and decor decorations. Our apps, scallops, were over priced and under delivered. Entrees, my lamb especially, cold. Cold. Cold. Cold. I know lamb isn’t supposed to be piping hot but some warmth would be nice. The service...meh. Disengaged, and seemed like this was just a “job” and had somewhere more important to be. Not the speed and professionalism you’d expect at this price point. Could be COVID, but just getting tired of places not living up to expectations. Good luck R&B, won’t be back.More

My spouse and I decided to give R&B a try after having a solid experience at another local farm to table. We sat on the patio, overall ambiance was very nice, private and cozy atmosphere...albeit the route to get to the patio from the front...door is a little strange. Appetizers arrived quick and were fairly good (crab cakes and the sourdough bread). Crab cakes were a bit on the fishy side taste wise, but alright. Mains (lamb and steak) were quite delayed. I expect a delay in fine dining between courses but this was close to 45 minutes. They seemed fairly busy, no big deal. Unfortunately though, my lamb was served and I could tell immediately it had been sitting for at least 7-10 minutes, just a shade over lukewarm...steak was hot. I actually prefer my meat served cooler, but this was certainly not done intentionally. While the quality and cook of the meat was strong, the flavours were incredibly low tier for a price point such as this. The mint crusted lamb had the faintest tinge of mint completely overshadowed by what I would describe as an “instant” style gravy/au jus that smothered both plates. The steak I am fairly sure wasn’t seasoned at all(and by not seasoned, I really mean nothing). As for gravy, by smothered, I really mean covered. Despite the gravy though the meats were so poorly seasoned you couldn’t taste a whole lot other than a light gravy flavour...stranger so the entire meal (again covered in au jus) appeared to have zero salt. I’m not sure if they are trying to take a really healthy approach and keep salt low (respect earned by some I guess, all good), if so it was really missed for us. Vegetables were solid in both plates, perfectly cooked and much better seasoned. Overall despite a slow service on mains, the waitress was kind and attentive, no complaints there. I would take many reviews here with caution, I am unsure if the quality has anything to do with Covid, but it really felt like R&B was striving for a Michelin star in some areas, but served up nothing better than Swiss Chalet in others. This was certainly no where close to a high performing fine dining experience meriting a tag of 45 bucks for a main.More

Big shout out to Chef Ray Taylor and his team for their hard work, especially during this Covid crisis. Their efforts to ensure social-distancing and cleanliness are apparent - the place is spotless, including the loo. Foods were exquisitely delectable and fresh as per usual....To add a special touch for our anniversary, Chef Ray served us himself. He is a picture of class, style, and graciousness.More

Tried this restaurant for the first time. The Executive Chef from Niagara Casinos opened his own restaurant and it is spectacular. Extremely haut cuisine and it did not disappoint. Our server Sharon was amazing, very knowledgeable and helpful. The chef specializes in farm to table...cuisine and seasonal food. The menu is continuously changing. We had Tuna carpaccio as a starter, the crab cakes were fantastic, Provimi veal chop and bison tenderloin. We will definitely be back.More

My partner and I have been to Root & Bone 4 times since they opened. The food is good. The menu however hasn’t changed or hasn’t noticeably changed. I wish chef would offer new items, we see the same things each visit and would like...a reason to be excited to return. Service didn’t match previous visits but could be COVID circumstances.More

From beginning to end, best meal I’ve had in a long time. Dined here numerous times in the past ans couldn’t wait to get back in there. The presentation of my meal, coupled with the tenderness of my steak and amazing hospitality made my experience...so enjoyable. 10/10! I can’t wait to get back there!More
