Had a great dinner for my Mom's 81st birthday. Our service was very good and everyone had a great food. My Dad and son had the Thai salmon which was excellent. Wasn't very spicy like was described but that was fine. Still had great flavor....More
I’ve had good food here, but the hours seem to be erratic, the service is average and the food is sometimes very good. The last time I stopped in they were closing nearly two hours early because business was so slow.
After a long week some friends and I decided to visit the Newell House in Carbondale for some dinner and drinks. We were pleasantly surprised by the many options on the menu and were delighted by friendly staff, great presentation, and awesome flavors.
Carbondale has had a hard time supporting good restaurants. Newell house has withstood the economic hard times of the area and continued to offer good service and food. Not inexpensive, but not over priced for good food

You are correct that the overwhelming majority of our desserts are house made. Unless we have a specific request for a special event or a high volume weekend (such as graduation), we stick to this philosophy. The only cheesecake we've done recently is the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake which is made in house from scratch and sells very quickly. Certainly the intent is to provide a fresher, more flavorful dessert. We're not sure why it would it would come across otherwise but we will look into further when we taste the next round of cheesecakes. Thank you for your feedback!
