It is far way form the city center. Does not really worth to go too far for the food. The place is nice and the ambience is cozy. If you are around the are can be a good choice.

Bistro Compagne offers traditional French cuisine in a charming and intimate setting. Very congenial and helpful staff. Highlights of our dining experience featured an exceptional Salad Lyonaise, likewise the French Onion Soup and the Assiette d'Fromage. My Boef Braisee was a bit overcooked, but still tasty. This is a very nice place for a fine dinner in a relaxed and... More

Along a busy stretch of Lincoln Ave, this is a cozy, traditional French bistro in a series of small rooms with tile floors and dark wood trim. Tables are set close together, with white tablecloths and paper on top. A chalkboard lists daily specials. The menu features classics such as onion soup, pate, mussels and escargots for appetizers; main course... More

We went for a french restaurant in Chicago and the atmosphere was the right one (and there is as well a nice garden where you can have dinner weather permitting). The menu was really reinforcing the french atmosphere but I was disappointed when they served me the duck: very little meat and a profusion of salad and other side dishes.... More

I do not give restaurants five stars very often, but Bistro Campgne truly exceeded my expectations. We came for a relaxing Sunday brunch. The setting was fairly realistic and sitting on the patio was a refreshing experience on a nice day. The service was quick and knowledgable. However, the food was the best part. The Quiche Lorraine was super creamy,... More

Much larger than it was, with attractive indoor and outdoor seating. Not quite as neighborhood/intimate as when it was small, and the food seemed a little less inspired, but it's still a good bet and a great location right in Lincoln Square.

After reading a magazine article that claimed French cooking had gone out of style and French bistros were a dying breed in Chicago, my wife and I decided to see if the claims were true. Well, the writer must not have been looking very hard. We have found several French bistros that are alive and thriving. If you enjoy French... More

This is an extremely comfortable cozy restaurant; great food. Unfortunately the service we experienced was rather spotty- some long waits in between courses (with no one checking in with us at all for water etc); no plates for bread and appetizer of mussels. Overall not a horrible or bad experience, just could have been so much better with a small... More

A charming restaurant in a lovely Chicago neighborhood. The building itself has twists and turns so each section seemed like a semi-private dining room. I desired comfort food and ordered accordingly. The server got us off to a good start with a warm baguette and butter. I chose the Poulet Roti Forestiere, which was a delicious roasted chicken with a... More

Description
Bistro Campagne is a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant in the tradition of a true French bistro. From the beginning, Bistro Campagne has strived to capture and express that ephemeral quality found in favorite small neighborhood bistros in Paris and rural France: the sense of welcome, ease, fun conversation & and of course excellent food. The setting is a charming blend of prairie-inspired decor and lively Gallic spirit. It is the food, however, that is at the heart of a great bistro, and Chef Michael Altenberg offers a seasonally changing menu of classic bistro fare that is based on the best ingredients he can find. His commitment to organic agriculture leads him to seek products from local organic farmers throughout our Midwestern growing season, and even from organic farms on the west coast throughout the winter. Bistro Campagne is committed to the use of organic food products and strongly supports the sustainable, low impact agriculture movement.
