The restaurant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Full restaurant and full of activity. Wonderful smell of food from the open kitchen. Great menu with a lot of choices. Great food and drinks. We are coming back next time we are in Chicago.

My husband took me here on one of our very first dates back in 2002, and loved it so much that we visited weekly for the next 3 years until our move to the 'burbs. Fifteen years and so many happy milestones later, Volare is still a family favorite for special occasions and out-of-town guests. The gnocchi bolognese, spaghetti Neri,... More

It's rated as one of the best overall restaurants in all of Chicago, for good reason, it's spectacular! I ate at the bar next to many regular locals, they helped me order. Bottom line is you really don't need help, everything is amazing! I ordered this squid ink pasta, seldom do I order seafood but this rocked my world! Highly... More

Hi George, thank you so much for this wonderful review! I'm especially glad to hear that you enjoyed the Spaghetti Neri al Pesce (Black squid ink spaghetti tossed with sage, shrimp, lump crab, scallops, simmered in a creamy rosé sauce). That's truly a family favorite! "Rocked my world! Highly recommended!" You are so kind! We hope to see you again... More

Fantastic dinner! Our server, Jesus was excellent. Our appetizer was the bruscetta which was light and tasty. For our entrees, I enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass with lemons and capers -- Melt in your mouth wonderful! The kitchen even was able to accomodate one of our party's requests for braciole! Dessert was the Tiramisu -- Light without being weighed down... More

We were seated almost immediately as walk ins even though they seemed to be very busy on a Saturday evening. We had two pastra dishes and both were excellent - linguini and clams in a white wine sauce and squid ink spaghetti with shrimp, scallops and fish in a cream red sauce. The servings are generous and with a glass... More

Went here on the recommendation by our hotel staff. Cool atmosphere straight out of a movie, surrounded by Italian speaking customers. Food was good. I've had better Caesar salads but the minestrone soup was spot on. I had a spicy rigatoni that was great, but the Misses said the veal limone was a little bland. Will definitely give the place... Hi Nathan, thanks for taking the time to review my restaurant. I'm glad you had a good experience with us and that you enjoyed the Minestrone alla Toscana and the Rigatoni all’ Arrabbiata (Spicy tomato sauce with pork pancetta and garlic). I appreciate you and your wife's opinions of the Caesar Salad and Veal Limone. We take all feedback seriously... More

After several Italian restaurant disappointments (soggy deep crust pizzas and dishes drenched in sugary tomatoe sauces) in Chicago, we were happy to discover the Volare close to our hotel on Grand Ave. The room has a true continental Italian atmosphere. The staff is old world professional, they are courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. Even though it was a full house, our... More

Hi Peter, thanks for sharing this wonderful review! "we had to ask for an extra small helping of bread to make sure that every last drop of the superb sauce was consumed. Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
