We ate here for breakfast and had a lovely corner booth. I had french toast and bacon, and everything was delicious. It was raining outside, but that just made it feel more cozy.

We stayed right down the street from here at the Congress Hotel and wanted to get in a good breakfast and a mimosa before doing some exploring for the day. We could not have picked a better spot! Place was pretty full, it was Sat morning around 8:30 am but we were able to sit right away. They offer a... More

Loved this place! Felt like a hole in the wall diner but conveniently located on Michigan ave. We happened to wander by and stopped in for the specials and were not disappointed! The grilled cheese had basil pesto and was served with Parmesan chips. The fish and chips was great as well!

Staff is incredibly nice and very welcoming- we really enjoyed them and honestly, can't wait to go back. Not fake at all-they started our days out on the right foot, full of happy and ready to go! Portions are not shy, neither is the flavor and conversation. Great music and make time to look around, its another super old lovely... More

Average fair food. We were starving from all our walking or else we would not have stopped in. Maybe it's just us being out of town but it seemed overpriced for just a burger and french dip.

We stopped by from the Columbus Hilton for a quick late lunch. The sandwiches are about average for this area however its not as good as I had expected. I'm a bit disappointed that their ice-cream is soft serve for the price they charge for a sundae. The staff is very friendly but $7.95 for a slice of chocolate cake... More

I popped into the Artist's Cafe for a quick lunch before a matinee at The Auditorium. I've done this a few times over the years and each time I've wondered why I came back. Cooking is lackluster, and prices are higher than you'd expect for this kind of cafe. I had a burger this time, size and quality about McDonald's... More

I think the fact that this place is an old-school, eccentric little diner along Michigan Avenue is what carries it, but if the wait is very long I would go elsewhere. The food isn't quite worth it. The texture of my omelette was pretty overdone- could've used more milk to make the eggs fluffier. The cheese inside the omelette was... More

Artist's Cafe is a Chicago institution - right around the corner from the Auditorium Theater, and a few blocks south of Symphony Center and the Art Institute. Not part of a chain Great place for breakfast Interesting menu Only accepts cash or American Express- the is a cash machine on premises.

This is a great little café where we enjoyed breakfast. There is a good choice on the menu and the service is good and friendly. The décor is a little dated but don't let this put you off. The prices are very reasonable.
