Been going here for years. By far my favorite ice cream parlor. Try the birthday cakes, will not disappoint. It's a little pricey but worth it .

They now have an outpost on Navy Pier outside. Make sure to stop for a cone when you visit the Pier this summer. It's 4 layered scoops of ice cream on a cake cone- chocolate, strawberry, Palmer, pistachio, topped off with orange sherbet. The perfect summer treat!

My family and I have lived a block away from Rainbow Cone for 17 years. This is a landmark & a great place to gather and enjoy great ice cream. The lines are long, but it is well worth the wait. A true fan...

Rainbow cones is a staple of the Southside. My family thoroughly enjoys all the flavors together in the traditional Rainbow cone, but their "green"( pistachio ) is one of my personal favorites

Our friends who live in Evergreen Park alerted us that Original Rainbow Cone has reopened after its usual four-month hiatus. Our family started going to Original Rainbow Cone in the 1950s, when we lived in Blue Island. Ever since, even though we live in downtown Chicago, we try to visit the iconic ice cream store at least once a month.... More

My family has been getting Rainbow Cones for generations. Every time I go to Chicago, this is a MUST STOP on my trip. Great family memories and the cones are just as wonderful as I remember as a kid. You just gotta get a Rainbow Cone!

Went to The Original Rainbow Cone with my 7 y/o. We had one baby scoop of strawberry and one large Rainbow Cone with no nuts. Great place to reminisce, long time location in The Beverly Historic neighborhood. Many flavors to choose from, if you don't like the Rainbow flavors. Parking and sitting area outside available, but usually you just stand... More

As a long time Chicagoan, I had been wanting to visit Original Rainbow Cone. I finally went last night. The AC was broken, so it was super hot. But, they did give a 10% discount for the inconvenience. It was very good, I think I liked the Palmer House the best. The store is no where near downtown Chicago. I... More

Rainbow Cone is a delicious and friendly neighborhood place in Chicago. Every ice cream is delicious even if you don't get the rainbow cone although I do suggest it. It is reasonably priced and is a great treat for families or friends.

My parents use to take my brother and me here in the summertime when we were growing up during the 60’s. I had not been back in decades and decided to take the time to revisit a place from my youth. It was delightful trip, which brought back great memories, and the ice cream was as I remembered it as... More

Staying in Beverly

Neighbourhood Profile
One of the South Side’s most architecturally arresting neighborhoods, Beverly is a quiet area where you’ll find more residents than tourists. You don’t have to travel far to see an Irish castle: the Beverly Unitarian Church sits commandingly on South Longwood Drive. This traditionally Irish neighborhood is now a mix of cultures but still maintains its strong roots in the neighborhood pubs lining Western Avenue. Though Beverly may be off the beaten path, its hilly geography makes it visually unique. Enjoy the neighborhood’s green space in the Dan Ryan Forest Preserve or visit one of several historic homes and districts along South Longwood Drive, including one of four Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the neighborhood.
