A group of 5 went there on a Sunday for lunch. The Restaurant has a real nice decor and loved the diverse music playing. We started with the Guacamole and the Sopes Surtidos, both were excellent. Among the plates we ordered were the Seafood Chile Rellenos, Tacos al Carbon, Sopa Mufeo, Pork Chops, Carne Asada, and the Lamb Chops in... More

Excellent food and service as always my only complaint today 10/2 was the loud obnoxious young guy sitting in adjacent far dining room playing loud music on his phone singing loudly oblivious to the rest of us in restaurant eating. He went over to bar area and got another beer Then went back to singing and burping loudly like a... More

The restaurant is located in a not-so-pretty area and is easy to miss. Inside, however, it is very welcoming. The owner interacts with the customers and the servers are very attentive. We have had the sopes there, which are very tasty. My husband usually orders the molcajete ( a favorite of his). They used to have scallops with mashed potatoes... More

We went to this restaurant for dinner based on an OpenTable search and Yelp recommendations. I wouldn't go here if you were looking for the traditional Mexican cantina fare since basically none of that is offered. This restaurant specializes in fine dining entrees with a Mexican/Spanish flair that introduces both a lot of flavors and sauces as well as great... More

Looking for great mexican with excellent taste and afforable. Staff is very helpful about their menu, if a person is not sure of what there ordering and besides Dine-Inn there is Drive-through as well. Great little place and afforable price.

With over 6 dozen tequilas to choose from, you can't go wrong. Don't miss the pomegranate margarita. The sopes (masa boats) with 4 different fillings makes a great starter as does the appetizer platter. The rainbow trout stuffed with squash blossoms roasted in corn husks was delicious. I also liked the red chile rubbed rib-eye steak.

I was in Chicago for business and was looking for a budget friendly Mexican place. While it's not necessarily in downtown Chicago - this place is worth the trip. Fantastic service, meals were beautifully presented and flavourful. It's not your typical place with burritos and tacos - it was very well presented and honestly a great meal.

We had several criteria for our Mexican evening: had to serve alcohol, be above the taco scene, open a bit late and good reviews on internet. Sol de Mexico was a fantastic choice. When we arrived, we noted the huge majority of the customers were Mexicans - which is always a good sign. The staff were wonderful, helpful, and we... More
