We have been going to the Walnut Room for the past 50 years. Unfortunately, this may be our very last time because the service, beauty, and "wow" no longer exist. We got our pager at 2:30 and were told our seating would be between 4:30...More

Made reservation on Open Table. Arrived about 15 min beforehand. They have two lines. One for walk ins. One for reservations. What this means is that even though you have a reservation, you will still need to wait in line, albeit a shorter one, but...More

This was our first visit here, and we were surprised to find a long wait (one and a half hours) for lunch due to the start of the Christmas season. We decided to wait since we were in town only a couple days. The wait...More

This should be a Christmas tradition. The two story tree is spectacular and a visit from from the fairy delights everyone. Yes, the food is delicious especially the Chicken Pot Pie or any other traditional dishes. Service is fast and friendly.

We made reservations for our party of 8 through Open Table. Even though our "dining time" was 4:45, it wasn't too crowded. The restaurant is huge and I am guessing our table was chosen because we were viewed as a rowdy bunch - to the...More

My son, a college student in the South Loop, and myself decided to walk to Macy's for lunch from his apartment. We wanted to relive all of our precious memories of trips to the Walnut Room when he was small. We went on Friday, November...More

If you are a native Chicagoan you know about Macy's (formerly Marshall Field's) Walnut Room restaurant. Open year round, there really is no better way to experience this restaurant than during the Christmas season. For many, having lunch here under the magnificent Christmas tree is...More

Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and
flavor. This central business district boasts
Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of
