We had learned about Primehouse on the Travel Channel. They specialize in dry aged beef, which is our favorite form of aging. It exceeded our expectations. Our server, Jeremy, was amazing. We ordered one 55 day and one 75 day aged prime rib steaks, cooked...More

Was staying at The James hotel and booked a table at the Primehouse which is the hotel restaurant. Very comfortable surroundings, relaxed atmosphere, and great service. Had the 55 day ribeye which was one of the best steaks I have had... Cooked to perfection.

The cost of the food was a bit pricey but the was ok. Spend a bit too much for sandwiches and desert in my opinion.

The aged Ribeye was fantastic. Had the Lobster Bisque and would highly recommend. This restaurant is definitely a treat.

So I love the James Hotel, but was unimpressed by this restaurant. We came here for lunch and dinner because we were staying in the hotel, and I realllly wanted to love it. For lunch we had the steak burger and chicken club. They were...More

Came here by coincidence and wasn't disappointed. Tried the Southside Filet with Mac n Cheese & Vegetables sides which were all excellent. Also loved their take on a white chocolate creme brûlée. Service was prompt and the waiter very attentive. Probably not THE best steakhouse...More

One of the higher rated steak houses in the area that surprised us with walk in accommodations for a two at 630. The place did fill up pretty quickly after we were seated. Our server was excellent. He knew the menu and was very helpful...More

The Steakhouse is located at the ground floor of the James Hotel. The location is nice, but not outstanding. The lightening is quite dark and the noise extremely high. I had a dinner for one with 6 oysters (which were the smallest on I ever...More

Hello Andrew. We do not charge for split meals at David Burke's Primehouse. We look forward to welcoming you to the restaurant! Jacob S Director of Food and Beverage
How long does it typically take to get your meal? I'm torn between eating lunch here on Sunday or Dinner. I'd prefer Dinner, but if I get in right at 5:30, would I be out in time to get to the Cubs game that starts at 7:10? I'm eating alone and I want an aged steak, so not sure if that makes a difference or not. Thanks!

Depends on how you like your steak (Rare, well done, etc) and if you cab it or take the L. If it were me, with a 5:30 reservation and I ordered a salad, steak MR then jumped in a cab, I'd have no worries about making the... More

Agree with above. Crowd was mixed, i.e. some suits and lots of people in jeans and polo's. No need to overdress.

Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate destination for special gatherings, the Private Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to the steakhouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement the progressive fare. #1 Steakhouse in Chicago by Chicago magazine, Best Burger in the U.S. by Food & Wine, Best Steakhouses in the U.S. by USA Today.
