Not the coldest of nights, but who turns down comforting food inside someones cozy house? The setting, blue door entry, many marble square tables with velvety cushioned chairs and gray banquettes. Paintings on the walls, reminds you of someones house down south. Server: Vince? (I think), informative! Farm to table concept, sourcing ingredients from "Blue Farm" (makes sense), a previously... My daughter picked this place for brunch because it was between her apartment and our hotel, so even on a terribly cold day the walk wasn't bad. Our reservation was at 10:00 am on a Saturday, and things were quiet at that time, with our table being the first seated on the 2nd floor. By 11:00 am though the 2nd... More

The experience at Blue Door Kitchen was magnificent! From my first conversation with staff on the phone to the building facade I was so excited and the interior, staff and food did not disappoint!! Blue Door Kitchen DELIVERS on every single detail from their coasters to their China, linens and even the bathroom were exquisitely executed. Not to mention the... More

Didn't know what to expect walking through the front door and was blown away by the flavors in the food. Not overly fancy but this "field to table' approach created a phenomenal lunch experience.

Fresh and delicious farm-to-table fare within a boutique-like setting only steps from shopping. I opted for the quiche, which was phenomenal.

Went to this restaurant for lunch on a Friday. The service was outstanding. The attention to detail was beautiful and the food was very good. My husband and I shared the Mac and Cheese appetizer. He had the buttermilk fried chicken and I had the apple and brie sandwich. My sandwich was OK but his fried chicken was fantastic. The... More

We ate outside in November in Chicago - not possible, but it happened. We started with a beet and carrot salad, which our companions liked a lot. The deviled eggs had salmon and they were good as well. The roasted brussels sprouts were a bit dry - a bit of cream might have helped. The short ribs were terrific, as... More

Went here for a girls dinner and I had high hopes. The restaurant is very charming I loved the decor and the atmosphere. I ordered to drink the Mule and it was pretty gross. For appetizer we had the perogies they were okay, deviled eggs they were okay, and a beet salad which I did not try. For my main... More

Interesting re-do of Table 52, Art Smith's original restaurant, but it missed the mark. It began with the bartender who did not know the difference between a blended Scotch and a whiskey! I did not get any better when he tried to make a dirty martini and used vodka instead of the requested Gin! Luckily the ladies were only drinking... More

This is really a gem of a restaurant. My husband and I thought the service was great and the quality of food an excellent value. We enjoyed some sangria and the delicious hummus and chips that come before every meal. If it were on the menu, we would order it. I had the farro risotto with pumpkin and walnuts, thought... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighbourhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
