A very quaint Italian restaurant in a small town. The meeting room was well-prepared and away from the rest of the restaurant. The rib-eye steak was very good, and very surprised at the "larger than usual" Scotch selection.

After visiting the Ronald Reagan historical sites in Tampico and Dixon, my wife and I went in pursuit of a good restaurant for dinner before heading back to Chicago. A tour guide at the Reagan home recommended Basil Tree Ristorante. A fine dining Italian restaurant in Dixon, Illinois? Located at 123 East 1st Street, Basil Tree opened in 2009 with... More

A group of 6 of us had dinner at Basil Tree. We all had different things and everything was delicious. Our waitress was attentive and professional. We had a very nice time, but as the restaurant filled up, it became harder and harder for us to hear each other. We probably left before we would have had we been able... More

On a return visit with other couples, all found the food to be excellent. Atmosphere is pleasantly "restaurant" Italian. Service was acceptable, but there seemed too few personnel, perhaps because of midweek reservation, for number of patrons. Request for additional bread resulted in some being placed with the more than adequate entree serving being taken home. Volume of voices very... More

Had reservations which were not required on this weekday night but we always try to make reservations regardless. All had excellent meals and my Veal Scallopine was more than I could eat so leftovers were in order. They were very accommodating with special pasta orders, etc and the service was attentive.

This place has a great atmosphere. The food and service are good, but not great. The wine and bread are wonderful.

Everything about our visit to the Basil Tree was excellent: the food, the service and the environment. This is a definite must-visit when in Dixon, we can't wait to eat there again.

Surprised to find a restaurant this nice in such a small town. I had the chicken and rice soup of the day and entree chicken salad. Very very good. My wife had the manicotti filled with cheese and veggies. Awesome. The soup had lots of garlic. Maybe a bit more than some would like. We will return.
