This place does what it does very well. We go for the pastries, but their prices have gotten TOO HIGH. 4 dollar for a single turn over! We are outta here!

A combination restaurant and bakery serving a wide assortment of pastries and italian food including foccacio bread - pizza. All is made fresh on premises and all is tasty and reasonable price.

Great, authentic fresh food. Nice lunch time eatery. Fair prices, and personal service in the heart of Highwood. I have visited many times. The meatball sandwich is delicious. The pasta is outstanding. I am never disappointed at Maria's.

My sister and I stopped in for a treat. We were greeted by the owner who gave us a tour. He showed us all the various pastries as well as the lunch and dinner menus. We each got a cannoli to enjoy at home. They were great and so fresh. Maybe next time we will try lunch when I visit.

My cousin was visiting me in Chicago for a food adventure, particularly Italian fare. We had been to Eataly and decided to check out Milwaukee for a day trip. Being a beautiful late fall day, we decided to take the scenic route up Sheridan road. Then I remembered Maria's, which I had only been to once before, 3 years earlier.... More

Small place just like in Italy. We had the gnocchi and the panzerotti . Both were delicious. I think the gnocchi was slightly better. The panzerotti was a lot of bread. It was more like a giant calzone rather than the panzerotti you will find in Italy. I would come back if I were in the area at lunch time.... More

Fresher baked bread from plain French to a hearty chibatta. Also plenty of cookie flavors to savor. They also carry homemade facchachio plain cheese sausage and spinach delights.

The lentil and minestrone soups are vegetarian and delicious. And, oh........that pumpkin ravioli. Everything we've tried from the bakery has been fabulous -- especially the chocolate canoli and the lobster claw pastry. It doesn't matter where I am -- somehow I can always manage to come home by way of Maria's -- the food and bakery goods are that good!
