Great menu, friendly helpful service, food superb, lovely ambience and layout and decor. They are happy to adapt menu for individual requirements too. Parking ok, car park small but can park on roadside, this road quite quiet. Take care if driving on A4074 though to...More

On our arrival at this pub we felt its very friendly atmosphere. The staff were delightful and helpful with choosing wines for our meals. The 4 of us had different main meals and they were all very good. Dessert was also very good. There was...More

A friend of mine booked for Sunday lunch. I checked the menu, no veggie roast, so I emailed them to ask what the veggie option was.I wasn't happy with the choice, so they made a lentil roast, with veggie gravy. The service was great. Food...More

Family and friends took over the whole place last Saturday for a wedding reception. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The weather fortunately was good and everyone with kids headed for the garden and swings. Plenty of room for everyone. I was...More

Had a lovely time at the Highwayman, friendly relaxed atmosphere and staff with great sense of humour. Fantastic spread of different beefs so tender and pink in the middle with roasted vegetables and other side dishes.

First visit yesterday on the recommendation of friends. And it was very good indeed. Late booking so could only get a table at 2.30pm and was worried some roasts would have run out/be stale. But not a bit of it; all very fresh, choice of...More

Though the location of this pub is nice, first impressions are nothing special. It's a very old building with low ceilings and several adjoining rooms quite simple/plain decor. But the menu is very nice and the staff friendly. It's a French run pub with an...More

Description
The Highwayman Inn is located in a beautiful hamlet near Checkendon, on the Berkshire, Oxfordshire border, only an hour from London and 20 minutes from Reading and Henley on Thames. The pub dates back to the 16th century and still retains some of its original characteristics. Our aim is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in comfortable surroundings in which to enjoy our award winning food. We are committed to using local suppliers and produce with above all an eye for quality. If things go wrong or are not to your taste then please talk to us. We are genuine people that work really hard and care about what we do. We are always happy to listen to comments that will help us to improve our business and product. We want you to have an experience that is what you wanted and expected. It is disappointing enough to know that we have not given the best of ourselves but to read it later on the internet when it could have been dealt with at the time is frustrating and upsetting.Whether in my establishment or any other talk to the staff treat them with respect and they will work that much harder for you.
