Most Mondays, you can find us at Michael's Uptown Cafe - we've been eating here for years. "Why?" you may ask... Three reasons: 1) Regular menu and nightly specials are reliably well-prepared. 2) The servers are top-notch - helpful, professional, and friendly. And... 3) Monday is 1/2 price wine night at the Uptown - and they have a great selection... More

We visited on a Sunday in late May, some time after the Spring semester at IU had ended - and had the rate experience of immediate seating for Sunday brunch. Friendly service, delicious food. Husband had yummy Huevos Rancheros, I had Cottage Cheese Pancakes with Blueberries. The Chai Latte is outstanding.

Uptown Cafe of new days! Yes. A good place for breakfast, but remember brunch here is really breakfast before noon; don't expect brunch with flowing white wine. I still remember the Uptown Cafe of the 80s. Honestly, I liked it better, but I have a very nice breakfast and good service in the new days-place. Terrific coffee! Enjoy it!

This somewhat upscale one-of-a-kind resteraunt has great food for any meal of the day. I especially appreciate the breakfast menu for the unique home fries with mushrooms, the Hoosier Benedict, and the great, thick-sliced apple wood smoked bacon. At lunch, when available, the Turkey-Andouille Tasso Gumbo is a KNOCKOUT, served either way, with rice or mashed potatoes!! They're just about... More

I have visited this restaurant a couple of times as it is listed as a very popular spot in Bloomington. But I'm not feeling the hype, both times I've been there the food was okay (same things I could have gotten at Cheddars or Old Charley's a lot cheaper). The service both times was very poor, a half an hour... More

We visited this restaurant last week with friends and we all agreed that the food choices, and preparation made this clearly a no. 1 place to visit. Just off the courthouse square and close to the IU campus, this was a great place to visit. Be prepared for a wait, although it was not long and shorter than stated due... More

Listen, it's a popular spot. I get the draw. But brunch is actually just breakfast (before noon) and the menu is overpriced for what it is. Husband's Bloody Mary was basically tomato juice and hot sauce. Totally unimpressed. The loud table of dudes taking shots at 11a and demeaning women at the table next to us did not help the... More

Lindsay,I appreciate your feedback and apologize . My staff should have handled the drinking dudes and there comments by cutting them off or escorting them out.As for the Breakfast v Brunch...I agree and it's been bothering me for 40 years, overtime to change my description. The Bloody mary mix,I have no excuse, I pride myself in our recipe,as bold, spicy, flavorful , not sure... Wonderful customer relations! Fabulous tasting coffee with plenty of refills! We had tasty cornmeal pancakes and coffee cake. Ambience is pleasant. Great service.

I came to Bloomington from NYC in 1981. Uptown is our go-to place, with a creole theme but many alternatives. I love the filet mignon with gorgonzola, the burger, the ararat (chicken) pita, lump crab cakes when available. You can't go wrong. There are other places to eat here but if you want the best and a true Bloomington experience... More

Who'd think Cajun food in Indiana? Michael, that's who! But there's a lot more than just Cajun food done well here. Steaks are cooked right or they'll bring you another one. I've had all kinds of dishes at the Uptown and none failed to please. It's a short walk from campus too. It's not inexpenive, but good food never is.
