Heard about this historic place established in 1902 and was looking for place to celebrate my birthday while on business trip to Indy. It was heads above chain steakhouses! It's signature shrimp cocktail might be too spicy for some, but you can control the amount of sauce and the 4 shrimp are large and fresh. The filet was cooked perfectly... More

I've had the good fortune to enjoy meals at many of the nations's top rated steakhouses. For me, St. Elmo's is still tops. The steaks are cooked perfectly and are really flavorful. There is a good election of wines be the glass. Service is exceptional - never hurried or snooty, always ensuring your dining experience is exactly as you desire.... More

The atmosphere of the place is like walking into the 1920's and they have done a great job in maintaining the place. My steak was good but did not make my list of best steaks. Be sure to look up and check out the ceiling fans.

I was staying in a nearby hotel and it was a short walk to St. Elmo's. Although it was raining, it was worth the walk. A great dinner, friendly service, and some of the best steak you'll have. The shrimp cocktail appetizer is a must try. Mixed with horseradish, the cocktail sauce has a bite to it, but it is... More

Dined there while at Perdue VA Tech Football Game in Fall. Went there with friends who live in area. Enjoyed the bar upstairs before meal. we would definitely like a return visit next time in Indy.

The shrimp cocktail changed from how it use to be very spicy but it was okay. The filet though was cooked perfect and was very delicious. Creme brulee was good wish it was warmer though. Over all it was a good experience.

Eating here feels like stepping back in time (in a good way!). The steak is excellent but the ambiance and great service was what made this place special for me.

Excellent food and great service. Menu is not for those interested in a light meal. Portions are very generous.

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary and wanted to try somewhere we have never been before. This is by far the best steakhouse.

St. Elmo's has to be the best steak house I have ever eaten at in all my travels. I came with a party of 10 after a graduation ceremony at the Convention Center. We had reservations for 630PM and were seated right away. St. Elmo Steak House has been a landmark in downtown Indianapolis since 1902. I am sure the... More
