Original Italian food. Super scampi!! A favorite of Domers since 1927. Intimate, quiet except for ND football weekends.

What a great surprise this site was!! Hubby and I were visiting the area due to family obligations and stumbled onto this restaurant. It was fabulous after a long day of tedious travel. We got our favorite New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to relax with and the pasta was extraordinary. We both had a very fresh salad and the spaghetti and... More

We decided to try Sunny Italy for Restaurant week. The food was delicious as was the service. I had the chicken and although a side of pasta would have been nice, the baked potato was fine. My husband had spaghetti and meatball. Not plural as only one small meatball came with the dish. I would like to try it again,... More

Spaghetti with meatballs is what they claim to be famous for, and it was absolutely delicious. The meatball and sauce had a slight tangy taste that made it even better. But ask for a carafe of water, because the glasses are very small and they can get busy and not ask if you need a refill.

Have eaten here for over 70 years, nothing has changed - how can it be better than "Great". 2nd generation proprietor. All meals prepared fresh - homemade - moderate prices.

After hearing all about this place I was a bit let down. It was busy yes but very difficult to get refills on the tiny water glasses. Also not a very large of varied menu. What we got was fine and quick but there are better Italian joints out there.

I was staying as a solo business traveler down the street at the residence inn, so decided to walk over and give it a try. Great menu selection, yes the restaurant itself is outdated, but i think that's why I liked it so much... felt homey. I had the tomato basil soup on special and antipasto salad for one and... More

We dined near the end of a very busy football Friday night. The staff was clearly tired, but kept smiling and serving excellent home made pasta. The sauces and home made salad dressings are excellent.

Back in the day the Sunny Italy was the Italian restaurant in South Bend. I have not been to SI for years, but attended a business meeting a week ago. Arrived at 6:00pm on a week day and first noticed just a few cars in the parking lot. Inside were eight patrons. The place is very dated decor wise. Service... More
