Obvious care is taken in preparation and presentation of dishes from rich pasta to delicate seafood.

I was disappointed; my husband really liked his chocolate cake dessert. I ordered the salmon appetizer and asked our server whether it would be a meal with the cheesecake dessert. She emphasized that that appetizer was very small and suggested a salad. She did not tell me that the one I ordered, spinach, beets, etc, was a full meal, so... More

Food was phenomenal. Excellent selection of Italian wines. We were in Italy a few months ago and really enjoyed Baroncini's Soave wine.

The lunch special is pretty good at ten bucks. One of the better places in Iowa City at lunchtime, but then the bar is pretty low on this town. Bread and olive oil. Then a pasta dish or a second plate ("secondo" in Italian). Watch out for rare salmon though. I'd rate this "discreto" rather than "molto buono". 3.5 stars.

There is Italian and Italian. Pizza Pasta ... or real food. Baroncini is real food. Excellent steak, perfectly cooked (not so easy in the US when you like your sirloin to be still bleeding in the plate). Friendly service, cozy place with little boxes for privacy. Highly recommended for a couple dinner !

My husband and I had dinner here and it was amazing. The Pasta bolognese was delicious. The pasta was homemade and al dente. My husband had the pork dish and he loved it. The minestrone soup was very good. It had more of a creamy base which we don't see often and the vegetables were cooked al dente and not... More

I have eaten here twice and the food was wonderful both times. I also really enjoyed that there was more than one or two entrees without mushrooms to choose from. It seems like that is becoming rare, and I know I can ask them to be removed, but it's nice to have options that don't require holes or substitutions.. The... More

My daughter and I had a great lunch here. It has a polished yet relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent. We both had the Capellini AI Frutti DI Mare which is the seafood pasta and a great bottle of red wine. Their wine list is very extensive. They gladly substituted the the capellini for tagliolina pasta for my daughter's dish. We... More

I love Italians. Especially a nice authentic place. The smaller the better I like it. They make fresh pasta daily and they know how to cook it perfectly. Most places don't cook it al dente!! Nice place!!

Baroncini is an unexpected Italian treasure in college town, Iowa City. Pastas are perfectly prepared to order. The setting is quaint and conversation friendly. Service was right on target with knowledgeable waitstaff. While there was a wait to receive entrees , it was largely because everything is made to order so no overcooked pasta.
