I had the beef cheek (cabeza) tacos and they were amazing! They also have the best salsa. The prices are very reasonable and they have a large selection ranging from vegetarian to a variety of meats.

Hands down the best tacos in Iowa City. Great place to take the family. Service is great and very friendly. I definitely recommend it to my friends if they are in the area.

Our daughter and her family live in Iowa City and recommended this restaurant very highly. We agree. While not flashy, the restaurant served fantastic burritos and tacos that were well priced. Another indicator of a good place to eat is the number in line. This place is obviously a winner.

Excellent food, very nice and fast service. Always fresh. I love the fish tacos, the tostadas con camarones and the guacamole.

The food is authentic and delicious. Nowhere else in Iowa City can you get such well-prepared lengua, tripas, and cabeza. Those were a selling point for me, but La Regia also has options to satisfy any taste including carne asada, chicken, shrimp, and some of the best carnitas around! The restaurant is also attached to a small, Hispanic grocery which,... More

My daughter and I love Mexican and found this place with a 4.5 rating with almost 100 reviews so we thought we can't go wrong. Obviously we have much different tastes than those who rated this place high. Taco Johns & Taco Bell is better Mexican than this place! Food was luke warm and portions really small and had to... Great "fast food" tacos. Very authentic, great prices, and they have even added flan! What more could you ask for. Maybe fountain soda instead of cans? Still very good food.

It's tough to find actual Mexican food in the US (as we become accustomed to american-ized knock-offs). So I was thrilled to hear about La Regia Taqueria in southwest Iowa City. This establishment offers the eatery connected to a Mexican meat market, decorated with colorful piñatas dangling from the ceiling. Immediately I was intrigued by the offerings of goat stew... More

I'll have to admit that my first thought upon entering was to turn around and leave. The non-description strip-center storefront is totally devoid of ambiance. The good news is that we stifled that first instinct stayed. It turns out that you don't go for the decor. You go for the food, which is pure Mexican delight. I didn't go into... More

On Highway 6 West in Iowa City, this unpretentious eatery is popular with students and anyone looking for a bargain. Don't feel like splashing out on a drink? There is free iced water in carafes on the bottom shelf of the cooler on the right. Al pastor pork, carnitas, fish, or tripe tacos as well as vegetarian options are available,... More
