We were traveling through Marquette around the lunch hour, so I checked Trip Advisor for a place to eat. With all the rave reviews for the chicken & dumpling soup, we thought we found a winner. Huge disappointment! Left with an empty feeling and stopped to eat again further down the road.

It's friendly, accommodating, local character, fair price, abundant servings, efficient and friendly server, a hidden treasure at the foot of the Mississippi River bridge. I have brought my photo students here for 20 years. A gem, truly.

Although Marquette, IA doesn't offer much variety for food. The Bar & Cafe is certainly a great place to eat! I ate here a few times while in town for work, and enjoyed socializing with the locals and loved the combination of cafe and bar. I enjoyed the famous burger and also the cheese curd offered. The establishment itself is... More

On this cold breezy Saturday it was a great location to stop and grab a quick bite to eat. Simple cozy inside. Friendly staff, quick service and loved my burger and fries!! The blueberry/rassberry pie was very good too. They had other homemade pies as well. Even several soups too.

We were disappointed in the lack of cleanliness but we were looking for a fish fry and were just in town for the night so we settled. The salad bar and fish were fantastic and dishes appeared clean but the tables hadn't been wiped down from the last patron and no offer was made to do so by our server.... More

I am here for a week on business so I was hoping there would be at least a few places to eat. It's either this place or the gas station so I gave it a try. Food was pretty good and the prices/service was fair. But it's 2016 might be time to start accepting credit cards.

Each year I take some continuing education in Marquette and always eat at the Marquette Café & Bar. The chicken and dumpling soup is out of this world and the hamburgers are real old style burgers. This year my lunch was great as usual so I went back the next day for more soup and a sandwich.

Sometimes you just want a place with simple good food. It's an old style cafe with basic food and cheery staff. Go! Bring cash as they don't take credit cards, but no worries, you don't need much cash, it's reasonable.
