A nice quaint pub with historical posters and a different kind of interior. The menu is quite big with lots of choice - there are also specials which presumably change every so often. The food that I had was all pretty tasty too! The waitresses...More

We were lamenting our inability to find real English "pub grub" until the Black Horse Inn was recommended. We had an exceptional dinner of fish&chips and steak&ale pie. I opted for a lovely Rosé while my partner relished a tall glass of bitters from the...More

Stayed b&b and had dinner. Loved the fact that they had thought to reserve dinner in case they were full; which took stress away for planning evening meal. Good accommodation & clean room

Table was booked for lunchtime and everyone in the restaurant seemed to have been put into one area of one room - would have been better to have been spread out a little more. Not a gripe, just an observation. Had to wait a little...More

We spent one night at the Black Horse Inn and would highly recommend it if you are in this area. Our room was a nice size, very clean, and up-to-date. We had dinner and breakfast at the Inn - staff was very attentive and food...More

We have been here before on trips to visit family in Kent and have never been disappointed with the Black Horse, but this time it was a mixed bag. Firstly, the 4 of us (mother, father, Mrs Mono and I) ordered pre-lunch drinks (aperitivos, as...More

Visited with our son & his girlfriend plus her parents. Black Horse is a really good pub slightly off the beaten track. Great selection of beers and wines. It was pretty warm on the evening in question and even opened windows did not give much...More

We came for my wife's birthday as a group of 9. The table was nicely situated towards the back of the pub so it felt quite private. The service was very good considering the number of people and I was impressed with the level of...More

The Cock Horse is a pretty little pub with a great dining room. The hosts were very congenial and the food was great! We had the lamb shank and the lamb cutlet, which were both excellent, followed by a great cheese board with yummy local...More

I fully agree with the previous answer. Call them and ask! I was here July 2014 with daughter & granddaughter - the first one doesn't drink alcohol and the second one is just 12, so one bottle of wine for just me was a bit... More

Description
Nestling in the picturesque North Downs its hard to believe that Maidstone is only a stones throw away from Thurnams Black Horse Inn. Looking from the outside like the most traditional pub in Britain white washed, tile hung, sash windowed, sign swinging in the breeze inside will come as no great shock. In winter youll find a roaring fire in the imposing brick fireplace, dried hops drape from the ceiling and antiquey dark wood is in abundance. In summer diners can head outside to a paradise of shadey pergolas, ponds and green lawn or eat in the conservatory. Homegrown produce is key in a sophisticated menu which combines traditionalism with contemporary dining with impressive results.
