Was on a cross country bike trip and had the best ever open faced roast beef platter for dinner. The next morning we encountered mechanical issues with our vehicle and returned to the cafe for breakfast while the necessary repairs were being made. The breakfast was outstanding. Although I live in Missouri, I will make a trip back out to... More

Lady at the Prairie Lodge said this place had the best breakfast in Kansas, and tho I haven't eaten breakfast in every Kansas restaurant, I'd say she was right. I had the 3-egg scramble with house sausage and jack cheese, served with hashbrowns. So flavorful! Huge servings. Choice of home-baked breads: honey wheat, white, cinnamon, cinnamon raisin, raisin pecan, cranberry... More

Went back to cg for a weekend visit to see grandma. She wanted to go have soup at saddlerock cafe. Very friendly family owned restaurant and the food is always great! (Homemade cinnamon rolls)

The decor is a bit rustic and the tables are a bit rickety at times but this is by far the best food in Council Grove. There is often a line but the wait is never too long. I always choose one of the specials but they also have a full menu. The food is old fashioned ranch food -... More

This was the best breakfast we've had in a long time. The biscuits & gravy were amazing. Be warned though...stick with a half order unless you're sharing with a family of 4! The sausage patty was the best I have ever had. Anywhere. The homemade cinnamon toast was heavenly; not sickeningly sweet or too much cinnamon. The staff were so... More

Its ok for farmers,@ ranchers, or single person. What else can I say, not much to speak of its just a ok type of cafe, designed for farmers in a small town to go to. People where polite service was very slow and lad back, our food was warm not hot. The prices was average for a cafe.

Saddlerock is nothing much to look at inside or outside, but don't let that stop you from eating there! This is where many of the farmers and ranchers eat breakfast and lunch. They know the best places in a town to eat!. The biscuits and gravy are wonderful, as are the omelets, breads, and everything else I have eaten there.... More

We were in town for the Symphony in the Flint Hills. Had lunch there on Saturday. It was very good. We also ordered sandwiches to take to the Symphony with us. They fixed them "deconstructed" so they wouldn't get soggy in our cooler. Worked out extremely well. Our waitress was Crystal. She was friendly and efficient, taking our lunch and... More

It's off Main Street, but it's where the ranchers and many locals eat. Inexpensive good tasting comfort food. Service can be slow if they're real busy, but in this part of the world folks actually relaxe at meals and talk to each other. What ever you do, don't miss the homemade bread.
