After a nature hike at Bernheim Forrest we decided to grab a bite in historic Bardstown. We hadn't been to Kurtz Restaurant in years but was treated to excellent service and a good home cooked meal. My wife opted for their fried chicken dinner while I ended up with one of their specials-turkey/dressing( mashed potatoes, too)with country ham. Mine came... More

My wife and I had dinner at Kurtz's this evening and were reminded of just how fantastic the food is. I had skillet fried chicken and my wife had chicken livers and both were superb. We have eaten at this family owned and operated restaurant several times over the years and have always been pleased with the excellent service and... More

We had dinner here because of the reviews but were disappointed. The food was barely average with nothing to commend it. The ambience was nice but didn't make up for the ordinary meal. Went to Harrison-Smith House the next night and it was outstanding (although more expensive but worth every cent).

Visited this restaurant by chance two years ago after visiting Stephen Foster's Old Kentucky Home, directly across the street. Revisited with 3 friends this past weekend. Just as last time, delicious southern food in a bright and pleasant old house. Family owned operation of long standing with great attention to quality food. Green beans with diced country ham, spicy pickled... More

We stopped for lunch, it was delicious. Every single bite. Everything was homemade. Four of us ate, each of us got something different. We all raved about how good it all was. It was wonderful. I had coconut cream pie for dessert, it was the best I have ever eaten. One of my friends had Butter Bean Soup and Fried... More

We came here because of the reviews, but I can say those were all wrong! This is an old home being used as a restaurant. Accessibility is almost non-existent. Case in point, a woman using a wheelchair was trying to get into the restroom on the main level of the building. There was only one grab bar for her. I... More

This is a great place to eat for lunch or dinner. Be sure and get the coconut cream pie which is the best of all their selection of pie.

Four of us had lunch here and it was excellent. We were seated right away and our server was taking our beverage order before we could open the menu. Everything was super...the service, the food and the atmosphere. Would highly recommend. .

We stopped for lunch and it was still pretty busy at 1:30. Simple menu with good sandwiches, excellent service and outstanding homemade pies. Family run since 1937.

Cute place and the service was good. The owner came to the table and greeted us and told us the specials. The special that night was pot roast....it wasn't pot roast, rather it was sliced roast beef with brown gravy and a couple of potatoes and carrots. The fried chicken (and I ordered dark meat) was dry. One of my... More
