This was a place recommended to me by a friend and also the owner of the hotel I am staying at. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is very basic but the views are lovely looking out over the ocean. The food was anything but...basic, it was exceptional. I had scallops and salad. The scallops were prepared perfectly and the portion was very large (and I got the small order). My wife got the special of haddock with the lobster cream sauce which was out of this world delicious. The portions were huge and there was a ton of lobster in the sauce. We broke down and shared chocolate pie for dessert which was amazing. I didn’t think I would be able to eat any more after such an abundant dinner but one bite of that pie and I couldn’t resist. The service was friendly and prices reasonable. Highly recommended!More

FOODIE for La Cuisine Robichaud in Saulnierville in the District of Clare. It was special to be in one of our favourite places to dine in Nova Scotia on June 20th. It was Opening Weekend after a long break, Summer arrived with great weather and...we celebrated our 45th Anniversary. While LaCuisine responded to the CoVid-19 world by just offering takeout in late May, they have now made the requisite adjustments to seating respecting social distancing and sanitization. We made sure we had a reservation the minute we saw it posted they were re-opening. Our friends Renette & Norm Cormier of Little Brook joined us for a dining experience to be envied. The traditional and popular menu hasn’t changed much in seven years…the menu is predominantly seafood and prepared fresh daily. Heck the fish or lobster may have even been caught that day. Scott is still in the kitchen and Nadine and staff make sure the customer service is second to none. Their son Shane, a professionally trained chef, was working and welcomed us with a complimentary opening appetizer he created – a piece of brie on a beet cracker along with a chutney type reduction. We started our meal with a new item added in 2019. I call it the LaCuisine version of escargot - Robicheau’s Au Gratin Special. It’s chucks of fresh lobster & scallop pieces in a wine and cheesy white sauce. The two dishes arrived still bubbling from the oven along with a fresh homemade roll. We shared a single serving as an appetizer, however, along with a salad or chowder or rapure, one of these creations is a meal made in heaven. For mains, we each had something a bit different. Janice had the scallops with a ceasar salad, Renette went with their ever popular seafood lasagna, Norm had a piece of fresh haddock topped with creamed lobster along with a fish cake. I had the fresh haddock and instead of veggies and mashed potato, it was suggested to have a fish cake. I was not disappointed. Only a few places make great fishcakes – one is Marilyn’s at the MicMac Bar and Grill and now I will add La Cuisine to the list. Alongside the fresh sweet fried haddock, the slightly salty and oniony fishcake and a bit of chow was a great combo. We couldn’t have been more satisfied with a meal than with our choices. Since we were the last customers to be served, our choice of homemade dessert was limited. There was one piece of coconut cream pie left so we did a takeaway. However Shane showed up again at our table with a small dessert that we gladly accepted. It was a very creamy small scoop of (cream cheese dessert) with a special touch - enjoy the picture because it went so fast that I forgot to take notes! After dinner, we spent a few minutes on their outside patio which overlooks a large field and the Baie Ste. Marie. If your timing is perfect later in the summer you may see a one of the nicest sunsets in Nova Scotia. With their patio and inside dining, their capacity is reduced by a third for the foreseeable future. They open each day (Tuesday to Sunday) at 8am for quite a breakfast or you can just pick-up one of those morning glory muffins and a coffee. Don’t be disappointed if you want to enjoy this great Nova Scotia restaurant. They are not hard to find at 9651 Highway 1 across from the beautiful Sacred Heart Church. They have a great website and FaceBook page.More

They also do a nice job on fresh vegetables, especially in season. I had scallops and my partner had haddock. We agreed that both were among the best we've ever had. Serving sizes are generous but not overwhelming. Service was friendly. They don't serve alcohol...but allow you to bring your own wine.More

This quaint and awesome family owned restaurant is tucked away on the Acadian shore of Nova Scotia and has the best food found anywhere. Generous portions, excellent flavor and unique in that it builds on local culture and food traditions. Add to that Incredible service,...great ambiance it is THE go to not only for anyone desiring a nice dining experience locally but folks come from many miles away to enjoy the tasty offerings. Fresh local fish, sea food and other delights are the norm for the folks from La Cuisine Robicheau - go and go often - you will not regret it. Prices, which one would expect to be very high based on the quality of the food, are actually more than reasonable and worth every penny.More

I think this place is the best restaurant anywhere. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are so helpful and very attentive. We have eaten here several times now and every time is a real treat. If you are visiting this part of...Nova Scotia you should put this on your list of places to eat. Last week when we were there I had the pan fried haddock with Caesar salad. Believe me it was wonderful. Too bad I live 300 Kim’s. away or I would be therefore often. Oh and if you go and you enjoy a glass of wine be sure to take your own as they are not licensed but also do not charge a corkage fee.More
