I stayed in the motel at Double G Service, ate dinner and breakfast the following morning. Both meals were excellent with generous portions. The dinner was roasted chicken with herbs, garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans with a starter salad. Breakfast was sausage, eggs and hash browns with homemade bread for toast. This gem in the rough might be tough on the outside but it's great on the inside. Jack you run a class place.

Passing through from Whitehorse back to Calgary and saw this little Mom n’ Pop shop. Decided to order some lunch and are we ever glad we did!
I got a BLT sandwich and my husband got a Meatloaf sandwich.
We had no idea what we had just bought until we hit the road, but the locals told us as we left that we were in for a treat and would be eating it for days...After seeing how much love went into our lunch we knew it was going to be amazing... they were out of this world!
Thick cut bacon, homemade (gigantic) bread, fresh ingredients... just homemade perfection!
We wish we could go back again sooner, but it’s a 15 hour drive for us.
If you’re in the neighbourhood, this is a must stop! Bring your appetite!

Believe you: Me.
Get some $hit, shoot some $hit, grab yer own hot sauce, make yer own coffee.
But Fkna, Jack is slingin some bonafide great breakfast.
8mm bacon by the copious heap, and 2.5cm homemade toast to accompany spot-on eggs n’ taters.
The man has been doin it since your parents were the eggs he is cookin’.
Bus your table, flash a smile, and leave a tip for the best breakfast on the Alcan!
Thanks Jack!

I ate here twice years ago. I liked it both times, so I stopped by again with high hopes. Well, it was the most disgusting dining experience I have ever had.
The new owner/chef is a son of the previous owner. When my friend and I walked in, my friend tried to carry on a conversation. The son showed no smiles. It was apparent he was not interested in engaging with us. He just took our order.
As we ordered a cup of coffee, we just picked up a paper cup and poured it ourselves. As this owner walked by us, he said “did you read the sign”? There was a small print sign around the coffee pot area indicating if you choose a paper cup, no refill and you need to choose a real cup if you want a refill.
Neither of us even noticed the sign as it was so small. My friend made a comment to the owner, and he came back with a very rude response I have never heard at any restaurant.
At that point, I felt sick to my stomach. I lost my complete appetite. The food arrived. We ordered Steak and Egg. We asked for medium, and it was overly cooked. I had a bite or two, but I could not stand his attitude and his food, so we paid and left about 5 minutes after the meals were brought to us.
You do not have to smile, and you do not have to have a conversation with customers to run a restaurant. (Most restaurant owners would disagree with that, though).
But we all must show mutual respect and kindness. This owner/chef seems to lack a basic human element of caring for his customers.
By his ignorant and rude action, he has tarnished his father’s legacy and that is simply a pity.
We paid $24.95 plus a cup of coffee each with no tip. As I mentioned above, we hardly ate because of his rudeness and his horrendous food.

Friends tell me .. it depends who's serving on any given day. We stopped in for a quick lunch before continuing north and were served by the apparent owner. If you are fans of rudeness and passive aggressive service .. this is the place for you. We bailed with coffee to go...
A further drive up to Liard Hotsprings was worth it. Service and food was superb.

"Best cinnamon buns on the Alaska highway," or so we read someplace. And the claim was not without merit. One bun fed three of us. And the sandwiches were amazing - a mile high with their thick-cut homemade bread. Outstanding!

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Watson Lake from Fort Nelson. We each had salmon sandwiches. The fresh bread slices were each about an inch thick. The coffee was fresh and great and we had a great time talking with the cook and the other patrons. It was a highlight on our trip.

Travelling through scenic northern B.C., this place looked pretty rough, went in to check and what a gem!
Neat decor with funny old signs, family run business, casual conversation with one of the workers while the cook made us lunch.Ordered beef stew, homemade, big thick slice of homemade bread on the side. It was one of our best meals in such a neat spot!

We enjoyed the breakfast so much we went back again the next day. Jack, the owner and cook is a character and it is worth it just to hear the regulars swapping lies. The cinnamon bun is huge and tasty. The hash browns are fresh, you can watch Jack grate them and the bacon is a thick slice. Don’t pass up the opportunity to experience what small roadside diners used to be like.

Good homemade food. A beacon of hope to your stomach when travelling the Alaska Highway.
Owner has more local knowledge than anyone else around which he is happy to share with tourists to enhance their trip.

This is the best breakfast between Fort St John and Whitehorse. This place reminds me of my parents sitting around the kitchen table in the late 70’s with all the family around. Tacky placemats and old tables. The food is great, especially the breakfast. Everything is made from scratch. Baked goods are very good as well, so be sure to take some with you. Don’t be fooled by the looks, if the open sign is lit, it is actually open, even though it looks boarded up. The owners aren’t exactly overly friendly, but it adds to the feel. I can only imagine the travellers they’ve had to deal with over the years.

We stopped there on our way to Liard river, the outside looks rustic but the food is EXCELLENT
We had 2 breakfast they come with homemade bread (your choice of white or brown (fyi: no GF)) so moist and tasty !
Cliché little cafe/motel with the owner's son not very smiley when you come in and feeling like you're bothering. But after half an hour it was a bit more chatty :) I guess it's part of the charm of the place
